Veterans #BuddyCheckWeek: A Time to Connect and Support, October 21-25 As we approach Veteran #BuddyCheckWeek from October 21-25, it’s a crucial reminder that our commitment to our fellow veterans doesn’t end with our service. It’s an opportunity to actively reach out, connect, and offer support to those who’ve shared the same experiences, sacrifices, and challenges that come with military life. Checking in on a buddy can be a simple, yet powerful, act of kindness and care. Too often, veterans carry the weight of their service silently, feeling isolated or disconnected after leaving the military. Veteran #BuddyCheckWeek encourages us to break through that silence, to pick up the phone, send a message, or arrange a visit with those we served alongside. These check-ins aren't just about reminiscing or catching up—they're about showing our brothers and sisters that they are not alone, no matter where life has taken them since their service. This week, let’s pledge to do more than just say we care about our veterans—let’s show it. Whether you’re part of the American Legion family or simply a concerned friend, this week is the time to step up. A friendly conversation might make all the difference in someone’s life. Together, we can strengthen the bonds of our veteran community and remind each other that we are always here to help and support one another. So, who’s your buddy? Make that call today. To learn more about how you can participate in #BuddyCheckWeek and get resources for reaching out, visit American Legion Buddy Check at: https://lnkd.in/e6_ApZmf and join the mission to ensure no veteran is left behind. We’re stronger together. **Preserving the Integrity of Veteran-Owned Businesses and Honoring Our Homefront Heroes** The rise of businesses claiming to be "veteran-owned" calls for reflection on what it means to serve. Veterans dedicate themselves to protecting the U.S., often at great personal risk. A veteran-owned business should reflect the values shaped by military service, not be used as a marketing tool by those without that experience. While we honor veterans, it’s also important to recognize the critical role of those who serve in other capacities. Emergency personnel—police, firefighters, paramedics—and the everyday workers who keep America running—teachers, engineers, and utility workers—are vital in maintaining the nation’s stability while soldiers are abroad. These unsung heroes ensure that veterans return to a thriving, secure society. Both veterans and the men and women who support the country at home deserve our respect for their service and sacrifices. **#VeteranOwned #Integrity #EmergencyServices #CommunitySupport**
