The Public Kinship campaign accelerates today, Giving Tuesday, with the soft launch of the Public Kinship Reading Program campaign. Today’s Giving Tuesday campaign promotes a Culture of Literacy by getting books and other reading materials to children who reside in affordable housing developments.  Your gift will support a program that encourages parents and guardians to read with children in their homes and in community centers across the country.  Intergenerational reading promotes greater connection and bonding among family members, communities, and neighborhoods.  The result? #EngagedLibraries evolve to meet community needs. 💡 The Brooklyn Public Library - Sunset Park branch is one of its most popular in terms of attendance but was in desperate need of repair. With longstanding hopes of an expansion and the prospect of an expensive renovation, library and city officials decided to build a new library with a unique feature—seven floors of low-income housing above the library. The design not only saved the city money by combining two projects into one, but it also offered more space to meet user demand and brought needed housing and library services directly to those who needed it most. 📲 We want to know how your library has adjusted plans to solve community challenges.
