I read about a Tampa Hospital that was protected from flood waters due to a specialized fence that was put up when they were notified of the storm . First, I wonder what the cost would be and second how us Self Storage Operators could benefit from something like this? How much is lost due to storms and floods each year? It would not only protect the facility and hence save cost's for repairs, but would protect our tenants belongings as well. I read they re designing a residential version for about 20k.

🌊 Flood Safety: A Reminder to Stay Safe 🌊 Every year, flooding claims more lives than any other thunderstorm-related hazard. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, over half of all flood-related drownings involve vehicles driven into flood waters. Here are critical safety tips to help you and your loved ones survive flood conditions: - Avoid Flooded Roads: Never drive around barriers blocking a flooded road. Roads may be collapsed or severely compromised under water. - Water's Power: Remember, just 6 inches of moving water can sweep you off your feet, and 12 inches can carry away a small car. It's a stark reminder that water's force is easily underestimated. - Safety First: If you encounter a flooded road, Turn Around, Don't Drown. This simple advice could save your life. At Bridgehouselaw, we believe in proactive safety measures. Whether it's personal safety or legal preparedness, being informed and ready can make all the difference. Stay safe, stay informed, and remember, no destination is worth risking your life over flooded waters. #FloodSafety #TurnAroundDontDrown #StaySafe #Bridgehouselaw #CommunitySafety For more information and safety tips: https://lnkd.in/eN3ENue

May is Flood Awareness month in Oklahoma, and Meshek wants to help spread information and resources that may help in case of a flooding event. Flooding can occur in the United States at any time of the year. It causes more damage in the United States than any other weather-related event. On average, floods cause eight billion dollars in damages and eighty-nine fatalities annually. That is why it is so important to be prepared should flooding occur. During a flood, water levels, and the water flow rate can quickly change. Remain aware and monitor local radio and television outlets. Avoid flood waters at all costs and evacuate immediately when water starts to rise. Don't wait until it's too late! • Stay Informed: Listen to radio and television, including NOAA Weather Radio if possible, and check the Internet and social media for information and updates. • Get to Higher Ground: If you live in a flood-prone area or are camping in a low-lying area, get to higher ground immediately. • Obey Evacuation Orders: If told to evacuate, do so immediately. Lock your home when you leave. If you have time, disconnect utilities and appliances. • Practice Electrical Safety: Don't go into a basement, or any room, if water covers the electrical outlets or if cords are submerged. If you see sparks or hear buzzing, crackling, snapping, or popping noises--get out! Stay out of water that may have electricity in it! • Avoid Flood Waters: Don't walk through flood waters. It only takes 6 inches of moving water to knock you off your feet. If you are trapped by moving water, move to the highest possible point and call 911. Do NOT drive into flooded roadways or around a barricade; Turn Around, Don't Drown! Water may be deeper than it appears and can hide hazards such as sharp objects, washed-out road surfaces, electrical wires, chemicals, etc. A vehicle caught in swiftly moving water can be swept away in seconds; 12 inches of water can float a car or small SUV, and 18 inches of water can carry away large vehicles. https://buff.ly/3UB1Qsi #Meshek #Planning #FloodAwarenessMonth #Oklahoma
