It's normal to feel lonely sometimes, even for therapists who spend days helping others. I came across an inspiring Huffington Post article where a therapist goes into detail about how she handles feelings of loneliness. Read about her story and the advice she offers by clicking the link below. https://lnkd.in/gu_5JPCF #TherapistLife #MentalHealthProfessionals #TheWellWoman #AtlantaTherapist #TherapistTalk

Dear fellow therapists, it's natural to feel tension or anxiety when we don't have all the answers or feel uncomfortable with a client's emotions. Remember to lean back, take a breath, and be silent. Trust that the right words will come when you relax, and even if they don't, simply listening can make a big difference. 🌿 #CupOfTeaCounseling #TherapistSupport #MentalHealthProfessionals #MindfulTherapy"

Therapists, you're winding down your session and want to offer validating closing thoughts after some heavy processing; repeat after me... "I am holding on to this now. If you'd like to pick it back up, it will be here when you return." "You can leave this with me. You are no longer holding this on your own." "This will remain in this room. When you walk out, you may still feel its presence, but it is not fully there like before." "If your younger part allows me to, I'd like to share this load with them. They've been working really hard by themselves for so long. I'd understand if there are some mixed feelings." (I chose mixed feelings as a way to acknowledge there could be many, but trying not to add my own or value to it. Leave room for consent as well. If someone says no, that's okay!) "Letting go or accepting things as they are doesn't mean conceding or condoning what happened to you." I believe these statements are appropriate when you anticipate a lengthier process to address interconnected issues, recognizing that the path forward will involve navigating complex defenses, resistance, and multiple layers to unravel. But you knew that! 😉 #mentalhealth #mentalhealtheducation #clinicalsupervision

Welcoming one of our newest therapists. Katy Larson, LPCC, says "I love to help people become a version of themselves they can feel good about. If we are not clear on what our personal values and goals are, we can end up feeling lost with no direction. My training helps me to help people gain insight into the ways their past experiences have shaped their present. The process of changing and doing things differently often involves working through difficult feelings such as grief, shame, and regret; no one should have to deal with these feelings alone." Black Woman Owned Premier Group Practice committed to treating Trauma in Pittsburgh’s Black Community.
Healers and caregivers tend to hold the emotional pain of others and often over identify with their roles. Creating a "trauma filter" can help you to balance staying informed of the current events, offering support with boundaries, and being aware of triggers that inform you it's time to disconnect. #helpingthehelpers #healingthehealers #secondarytrauma #linkinbioforresources

What’s the deal with therapists doubting themselves? 🤷🏽♀️ Imposter syndrome and self-doubt are something therapists often experience, especially in private practice. So let’s break it down. ⬇️ Imposter syndrome is the feeling that you're a fraud, that you don't deserve your accomplishments, and that you'll be exposed. Self-doubt, on the other hand, is simply doubting your abilities or decisions. Both are common, but the good news is, both are manageable. And I don't just mean you'll learn how to live a life with them, I mean you'll live a life where these feelings DON'T HOLD YOU BACK 👏🏽 If you need help navigating these feelings, reach out for support. 💛 👉🏽 @amandakbcoaching for more relatable and helpful content for private practice therapists #TherapyIntensives #IntensiveTherapy #Revamp
