Palo Alto Networks with an “AI/ML Security Posture”solution add-on for its Cloud Delivered Security Services, could have been a game changer a year ago, when the market was not yet flooded by smaller, boutique startups now offering a more comprehensive security approach for Gen AI and LLMs.
Also, It will be an uphill battle to compete with Cloud Service Providers that will soon offer their own native security for Gen AI/LLM solutions. If I develop and deploy my LLMs on GCP Vertex AI, or Azure OpenAI Services, and they have native security tooling, I’d rather stick on what they can offer to simplify my security strategy and prevent tooling sprawl (and costs!)
However, if there’s someone you should not bet against to not execute and deliver, its Nikesh. He has tremendous drive on getting things done.
Buckle up, the next few months is going to be exciting for us AI/ML security practitioners.
Interesting takeaways from Palo Alto Networks Management Meeting with Morgan Stanley
New Products:
1) Expanding Focus From GenAI for Security to Security for GenAI
2) While much of the focus has been leveraging GenAI to automate security operations (eg. Cortex XSIAM), PANW is now expanding towards helping customers secure GenAI deployments
3) Data security has been the primary hurdle for CIOs looking to deploy GenAI in the enterprise, as these new technologies present major risks. PANW is launching new products to help solve this problem
4) This includes LLM firewall to monitor input/output data and prevent sensitive information from being processed or leaked by the LLMs. The LLM firewall will be featured as an add-on to existing Virtual Firewall customers (>12K), allowing for seamless adoption
5) We also expect new AI data security/governance products, built in part from the acquisition of Dig Security late last year
6) Overall, this positions PANW as a critical enabler of AI technologies, as enterprises are still looking for ways to securely deploy GenAI.
