From the Gila Wilderness to the Chihuahuan Desert, our state boasts iconic landscapes that are vital to the environment, wildlife, and local communities. But these places face increasing threats from climate change, development, and resource extraction. That’s where the New Mexico Conservation Alliance (NMCA) comes in! 🛡️ Since its inception, NMCA has been working tirelessly to protect and preserve New Mexico’s natural treasures. NMCA is driving real change for: 🌱 Biodiversity Protection — Safeguarding habitats for endangered species. 💧 Water Conservation — Ensuring clean, abundant water for future generations. 🔥 Climate Action — Addressing climate change through action. 🏞️ Public Lands — Supporting conservation and responsible stewardship of our public lands. Volunteering for climate action Climate change has profound impacts, especially on vulnerable communities. I had the opportunity to volunteer in a rural area where water scarcity was a daily challenge. The experience highlighted the resilience of these communities and the urgent need for sustainable solutions. This image captures a moment of solidarity— I was helping a young girl fetch water from a drying stream. It clearly shows how irregular rainfall and environmental degradation are reshaping our lives. Climate literacy is not to be ignored. Whether it's introducing water conservation strategies, tree planting, or advocating for clean energy, small steps lead to impactful change. #ClimateLiteracy #Volunteering #CommunityDevelopment #Africancommunities

At its root system, Aspens are interconnected. It's the way we think about the nonprofit ecosystem working on environmental stewardship, nature, ecology, climate justice, wildlife, marine life, renewable energy and so much more. These groups are on the daily working to make our futures possible, livable, sustainable. Much like an Aspen stand, we're asking every day people, connected by the planet we live on, to take a stand as an environmental future-shaping champion through Earth Gives Day. It is critical that we get more than 2% of giving going to environmental groups with boots on the ground and boats in the ocean. That starts September 6. 🌱 Corporate Social Responsibility in Action: Vistra and Serve the City Partnership. Once again, we joined forces with VISTRA for a community cleanup event that demonstrated the power of collaborative effort in corporate social responsibility. It was a day not only of environmental action but also of team building and community engagement. 👫 Volunteer Engagement: We were thrilled to see diverse groups of volunteers, including families, come together. The event included a fun-filled afternoon with activities like football, making it a truly family-friendly day. 🚯 Environmental Impact: The results speak for themselves - together, we collected 52.9 kg of trash, including almost 3,000 cigarette butts. With diligent sorting, over 75% of this waste will now be recycled, reducing the need for new resources and underscoring our commitment to sustainability. 🌿 Restoration Success: The cleanup not only beautified the local area of Kockelscheur but also restored it to its pristine condition, showcasing what we can achieve when we work together for a common cause. A huge thank you to all the volunteers and organizers. Your dedication to making a difference is inspiring and deeply valued. The first week of July is dedicated to raising awareness about the importance of keeping our beaches and oceans clean, and we all have a role to play in protecting our precious marine environments! Here are a few ways you can help: 1. **Pick Up Trash**: If you're heading to the beach, take a few minutes to pick up trash. Leave no trace and pick up any trash you encounter to keep wildlife safe and protect the beauty of our coastlines. 2. **Support Local Nonprofits**: Find and support local environmental nonprofits. These organizations are on the frontlines, working tirelessly to keep our beaches and oceans clean. If you’re in Georgia, check out One Hundred Miles, Surfrider Foundation Georgia, Georgia River Network, and Root Local. 3. **Join a Beach Cleanup**: Use the Ocean Conservancy's website to locate beach cleanups in your area.
