Last night was the very first screening of the Impossible show: Tsunami Relief Concert. 😁 Reflecting on our involvement in the concert 20 years ago, producing the two-part series, and sharing this incredible story that raised £1.25 million for charity has been truly phenomenal. A huge shout-out to our content team who brought this story to your screens. It is a testament to their hard work. Watch it live BBC One Wales 8pm TONIGHT or catch it on BBC Iplayer. We hope you enjoy. 💗

Here's a little video I did to coincide with my article in The Conversation on #bandaid40 https://lnkd.in/e7tu-XC3
'Band Aid, and the subsequent Live Aid concerts, became watershed moments for the charity industries.. Charity became a spectacle. Many famous people would use charity as a way to enhance their public personas, while the charity model itself would be affirmed within public and political consciousness as seemingly the only way to relieve suffering. 'Those who protested, saying that most charity props up an unjust system and is unlikely to lead to fundamentally positive change, were marginalised as radical thinkers.' Dr Colin Alexander, an expert in political communications at Nottingham Trent University, discusses Band Aid at 40. #BandAid #LiveAid #charity #HigherEducation

"Let's change the way we think about changing the world." - Dan Pallotta Activist and fundraiser Dan Pallotta calls out the double standard that drives our broken relationship to charities. Too many nonprofits, he says, are rewarded for how little they spend -- not for what they get done. Instead of equating frugality with morality, he asks us to start rewarding charities for their big goals and big accomplishments (even if that comes with big expenses). https://lnkd.in/dzY4tS4

One of the most powerful stories from a charity that sticks in my mind is this - It’s a choir performing a song about their involvement with the charity because they all have missing people in their lives. Every time I watch it, it makes me cry. Without fail. Every. Single. Time. It’s a really beautiful way to get a story across, and one of the most important charities helping people in this way. It’s one organisation I always think about when thinking of the best stories. What comes to mind for you? https://lnkd.in/eXc2VHce

Do you believe that it takes money to make money...unless you work for a charity? Schedule some time for a movie night to watch UnCharitable, and prepare to have your beliefs about the Non-Profit world turned upside down! UnCharitable is now streaming on Google Play, iTunes, Vimeo, YouTube, and Amazon. https://lnkd.in/gJ62qf9A

Columbia Threadneedle Foundation works with inspiring charity partners to improve individual lives while also driving long-term social change through the power of art, sport and education as catalysts for transformation. In 2024, the Foundation continued supporting its long-term charity partners Clean Break Theatre Company, Access Sport, The National Gallery, Bounce Back Project and AT The Bus helping them to deliver their vital work. In addition, Columbia Threadneedle awarded a number of grants to support charities within the communities in which we live and work. Our employees also played an important role, dedicating their time and skills to volunteer for worthwhile causes. https://bit.ly/4fuxikp
