From the archives... I made this statement a few years ago and it garnered a significant response—not all in agreement—so with more page followers, I thought I would shoot this one across the bow again. No, I don’t support bringing prayer or the Bible back into government schools. That may surprise you, coming from an educator who post daily from the Bible, so please allow me to explain. Many people point to the Supreme Court decisions of the 1960s forbidding prayer and the Bible in government school as a crucial turning point in our national schooling system. Indeed, it was an outward sign that the school system was now fully anti-Christian. However, these decisions were not the beginning, but the culmination of the descent into amorality. This was the death knell of any hope that these institutions might be turned around into something even remotely useful. Some have proposed, as a remedy for these failing bureaucracies, that we “Let God, prayer, and the Bible back into government schools,” but I do not join their call. My reason can be expressed with questions. What kind of instruction would be provided regarding the Creator who is spoken of in the Declaration of Independence? It certainly wouldn’t be the same as what our Founding Fathers would have described as can be attested to in their writings, speeches, and declarations. And the prayer? Would it be censored to make sure that no one uses the name of Jesus or Christ, as happens frequently with military chaplains? And the Bible? What would be taught about the Bible? Certainly, the nothing would be usable from the Scripture that would contradict the atheistic (secular humanistic) religious worldview instruction, founded upon Darwinian evolution and undergirded by the scientific presupposition of naturalism, preached in the temples of secular “education” programs (government schools and universities) and proclaimed by the prophets (professors and teachers) of modern schooling. Therefore, I do not join in calls to “bring back” God, prayer, and the Bible into government schools. It would be “a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof…” and from such we should “turn away” (II Timothy 3:5). Read the proceeding verses and see if they do not describe the government schooling environment. I call for the abolishment and replacement of the government schooling system with true education that is parent-directed, privately funded, and free-market enabled. This is something that can only be accomplished by parents taking the initiative to remove their children from this institutionalization and choosing true education. For families that claim a Christian faith tradition, it is imperative that they chose education that is based on a biblical worldview. #HomeEducation #homeschool #homeschooling #education #GetOutNow #PublicSchoolExit #ChristianEducation #EdcuationIsDiscipleship #ChristianHomeschoolRevolution

It's the start of a new semester, and we encourage you to check out this article! "Newman, of course, predicted, in the absence of a curriculum ordered to the highest, namely God and theology, what has transpired in the modern university and in truth in all contemporary schools, namely that each and every discipline seeks to make itself the highest. Yet were we to succeed in creating JPII’s dreamt-of Christian university, were we to succeed in creating educational institutions that combined and integrated evangelical zeal and world-class research aimed at and ordered to union with God, the source of all truth, Catholic universities could even outstrip their secular counterparts." https://hubs.la/Q02d-LyM0
