Did you know it's not just schools in the UK who benefit from one to one tutoring from Third Space Learning? Over the last year we've been working with a growing number of schools in the US too! Recently, we caught up with Liz Avery, Math Instructional Coach at Renaissance Academy in New York, to hear first-hand the impact the regular math tutoring sessions have had on their 4th and 5th grade students: “Every student who attended the sessions increased their scores last year. The kids love working one-on-one with the tutors and all said they felt they got better at math.” Click here to find out more about Renaissance Academy’s experience with our tuition ⬇️ https://bit.ly/4adG4kd We are so excited to have the opportunity to work with schools like Renaissance Academy and our expansion into the US, working with our growing team of US math experts to ensure students and teachers are able to benefit from our math support.

Students should learn math by proceeding from the concrete to the pictorial to the abstract. But once they've reached the abstract, they need to memorize their math facts. Here's why most schools don't teach math facts and why they should. School boards must require robust math fact practice in their schools. https://lnkd.in/g-DAiw2T

Great article about the power of HQIM, and how it drives collaboration and learning among students, staff, and families. I love the discussion on aligned HQPL as well in the second half of the article. I would have chosen different curriculum, granted 😉, but great job by these two leaders! “We’ve found that using the same high-quality math curriculum across all schools in our districts establishes a common language and vision of grade-level instruction for all educators. It promotes collaboration and frees teachers from having to find or create supplementary materials. And because math homework uses consistent language, texts, and online tools throughout the elementary years, parents are better prepared to support students at home.”

These results are among the first indications that in-school high-impact tutoring can effectively counteract pandemic-era learning setbacks. 1. In-school tutoring significantly boosts math scores. 2. Tutoring also improves student attendance. 3. The math score improvement is comparable to two-thirds of a school year's progress. 4. Students are 7% less likely to miss school when they have tutoring sessions. 5. Incorporating tutoring into the regular school day is key for effectiveness. Saga Education

What does it look like when educators innovate? Does it have to be a complete overhaul of current methods of teaching? Often teachers innovate by finding creative ways to present their subjects to students. This group of #math educators in Atlanta is a great example of that. They are using Cardi B’s handbags to teach math in a new, compelling way to help encourage student engagement and build excitement about learning. https://lnkd.in/eYkFfWHa

Elementary and early childhood education professional bringing high quality programs to communities across New Brunswick, Canada.
At Origins Academy, we are always seeking ways to improve how we teach, ensuring that every child has the tools they need to succeed. One example of this is our use of JUMP Math, an evidence-based curriculum that has shown promising results in building math proficiency. As math and literacy scores in our province have decreased or stagnated over time, it’s important to explore solutions grounded in research. This recent article from The Globe and Mail highlights why JUMP Math has gained such positive attention from educators. It’s a reminder of the importance of looking closely at the evidence behind our educational choices and how we can work together to create the best possible outcomes for our students. I encourage parents and educators alike to be curious and ask questions: What strategies are being used in our schools, and what evidence supports them? These conversations are key to building a future where every child has the opportunity to thrive.
