The infusion of fresh perspectives, technological innovation, and a keen understanding of the evolving preferences of the youth can undoubtedly contribute to the growth and sustainability of the tourism sector. In essence, the discussion between the Rwandan youth and the Kenya Tourism Board encapsulates a vision for a vibrant and sustainable future for African tourism—one that is characterized by innovation, collaboration, and a deep appreciation for the richness of each nation's offerings. #YouthConnektAfrica2023 #magicalkenya

📢 News : our #Uganda report on #sustainable #tourism #economy was mentioned in a #CNN article 🗣️Quote "According to #EU Africa Rise, a European Union-funded body that supports #sustainability in #EastAfrica, #tourism accounted for 5.9% of #Uganda’s GDP in 2019, with a growing awareness of the need for #sustainable certification, something which can be expensive for start-ups and small operators. 🗣️“Although #Uganda struggles internationally with its brand recognition and image (especially compared with regional peers such as #Kenya and T#anzania), it does receive very high satisfaction ratings from travelers that visit the country,” according to EU Africa Rise, in a March 2024 report entitled “Towards a Sustainable Tourism economy in Uganda.” 🎯This a beautiful testimonial about our work in Uganda we sincerely hoped that our report would support the country’s efforts to strengthen #institutional capacity for tourism #management, promote community involvement in tourism #development and work closely on initiatives to improve the standards and sustainability of the #industry. #stas2024 update Tourism and Development in Sub Saharan Africa: Current Issues and Local (community) Realities This book by Prof Marina Novelli captures many realities that we often discuss at Sustainable Tourism and Africa Summit each year. #stas2024 is no exception. The book acknowledges the paradoxes, complexities and inequalities of tourism in relation to development, wealth creation, growth, redistribution, governance and hosts-guests’ relationships. But there are now realities. For example , there are new complexities with community engagement. I have worked with host communities in Kenya for nearly 25 years, and today the biggest challenges of community integration in tourism is predatory community financing. I will join the community panel at #stas2024 to speak more about this threat. Meanwhile, we look forward to hearing the perspective Liesl Liebenberg a hotel school manager with expertise in EIA, disaster management and sustainable tourism development, on innovations in community integration in tourism. #stas is for brave people For registration got too events.sttakenya.org or DM Sustainable Travel & Tourism Africa

The surge in international #tourist arrivals in Kenya, marking an 18.42% increase over the past 16 months, is a #testament to the effective policies implemented by the Kenya Kwanza administration. This growth, observed since President William Ruto took office in September 2022, reflects positively on the tourism sector, contributing significantly to #government revenue. During a press conference in Nairobi, Government Spokesperson Isaac Mwaura expressed confidence that the numbers would continue to #rise, particularly with the recent launch of the #visa-free entry scheme for #foreigners. Kenya's attractiveness as a #tourist destination, coupled with increased spending and extended tourist stays, is positioning the country as a robust player in the global tourism market. In addition to the economic benefits, Mwaura underscored the #government's dedication to preserving #Kenya's rich biodiversity. Measures are being implemented to protect endangered species, such as the northern rhino, ensuring that they do not face the threat of extinction. Moreover, the administration is fostering the growth of the #tourism sector by offering enhanced training #opportunities for youth. The upcoming opening of the Ronald Ngala Utalii Training College, with the capacity to train 5,000 youth, aims to empower a new generation of professionals and contribute to the #industry's sustained success. Despite criticism surrounding the new visa-free entry policy, Kenya is actively positioning itself as a key destination for #international meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions (MICE) travel, further diversifying its tourism offerings. #tourism #hakunamatatamedia Story: People Daily

Great success for more jobs in Africa.
Voice4Africa @ #ITB2024 Yesterday, our CEO Hanna Kleber - as founding member of the ReThinking Africa Foundation - moderated together with Dr. Holger Bingmann a panel at ITB bringing together the tourism ministers of #Zimbabwe and #Zambia and the ambassador of #Ethiopia to discuss the significant potential of Africa's tourism sector linked to the transformative effects of targeted investments. Panelists explored strategic methods to sustainably advance development, considering environmental, cultural, and economic factors. While much emphasis is on driving economic growth, there is an imperative to preserving the unique biodiversity and socio-cultural heritage of the African destinations. We are excited to see various projects developing from future partnerships between the German and African private sectors in the field of tourism! #voice4africa #tourisminvestment #sustainabledevelopment
