I started my week with an inspiring TEDx talk by Hannah Kromminga. It's a great example of product storytelling that is deeply connected to founders' values. Go ahead and listen to Hannah talk about GIFTD, a new platform for the free redistribution of consumer goods that she is building. GIFTD addresses a major pain point and a challenge in retail: redistributing consumer goods that were never or rarely used to those who need them. Around 100 billion pieces of clothing are produced worldwide every year. 30-50% of these garments are rarely or never worn, wasting $1.5 trillion in household spending and emitting as much CO2 as global air travel (about 1 gigatonne). The numbers speak for themselves. Having worked in fashion tech for more than five years, I see overproduction as one of the critical areas of the modern retail industry.
