If Formula 1 is not letting Andretti Global join the #F1 grid because it's protecting the teams that spent/lost billions of $s during the times when F1 struggled financially (Which's a motion I support), why is Liberty Media not doing the same for the circuits that spend/lost billions of $ to get Formula 1 to its current status? Circuits like Monza, Monaco, Spa Francorchamps, Montréal, Nürburg, Interlagos, Hungaroring, Hockenheimring, Zandvoort, Suzuka, Catalunya, Imola, Circuit Paul Ricard, and Melbourne should all be granted similar deals to Silverstone that keeps all of it on the F1 calendar permanently. These tracks have founded F1, countries like Germany and France, and soon Belgium can't be out of F1 because of Liberty Media's greed and street circuits.

I am still digesting the coverage and implications of the rejected Andretti F1 bid (expect full coverage in Friday's Business of Motorsport column) but one quote that stuck out to me is from Mark Hughes in The Race. Discussing the potential legal implications of the decision, he feels that there could be some legal push-back and we know the law is trending against monopolistic behavior, even in sports. #sportslaw #motorsportlaw "It lists all the reasons why not, but the most crucial one is it does not see Andretti joining bringing a net financial benefit to F1. In other words, F1’s income would be divided among the teams by 11 rather than 10 without it attracting the additional income for F1 to compensate for the smaller share. It’s difficult to read this any way other way than F1 declaring itself a closed shop to anyone other than automotive manufacturers." https://lnkd.in/evu-QBuS

A new historica record 2023. The total number of partners in Formula 1 reached, for the first time,112, and before the year ended the number was 113, partners from the USA. For the first time in the history of Formula 1 there was more partners from the USA than from Europe, so the balance between Europe and USA changed. McLaren is the team with the highest number of partners from USA. RedBull have climbed to number 2 on the list. RedBull was the team that signed the highest number of new partners from USA 2023. RedBull announced 7 agreements with partners from the USA. Haas was number two on that list with 6 new partners from USA. What can we expect 2024? Personally I hope Formula 1 can find more new partners from Europe, especially from Germany and France in 2024. But the strong boom in USA will for sure continue in 2024. #f12023 #mclarenracing

Formula 1 is returning to Italy and Europe. The Gap, Formula 1 partners, between Europe and USA is closer than ever 🇺🇸 🇪🇺 Never in the history of Formula 1 has this gap been this small. The number of partners from USA in Formula 1 reached an all-time-high record level in 2023. The year 2024 have started with a little fewer US-partners than last year, but with the latest signings, Scuderia Ferrari HP deal, Williams Keeper Security deal and McLaren eBay deal the total number is close to last years. My expectation is that more US-partners will join Formula 1 during the 2024 season, so last years historical record will be beaten in 2024. It is also closer and closer, the gap between Europe and USA. This gap will be closed in the coming 12 months, is my prediction.

China F1 upgrades in full, from tweaked headrests to new floors https://lnkd.in/e8S5Vxpt The intensity of Formula 1 sprint weekends means teams are reluctant to bring major upgrades because there is a lack of time to properly test them. However, with the fight in the F1 pack so intense this year, everyone equally knows that small gains can make a big difference in the pecking order. That is why several outfits did bring some new parts to Shanghai, with Alpine and Haas bringing pretty extensive updates, while Mercedes, Williams and RB all made smaller tweaks to their cars. With just one free practice session at the teams' disposal, all of the changes seen in China needed to work practically out of the box, even if new parc ferme rules did allow for some tweaking of settings between the sprint and qualifying (...).
