Our commitment to preserving the Mediterranean's marine biodiversity is demonstrated everyday through active participation and key partnerships. 🔬 Research Partnership – Since 2022, our collaboration with Ifremer supports the ‘Living Port’ project in Marseille, assessing the success of marine ecological restoration efforts. 🌱 Posidonia Restoration – With Fondation de la Mer, we’re revitalizing seagrass meadows in Marseille, Corsica, Italy, Malta, Greece, and Turkey. 🆕 Biodiversity litigation (also more recently referred to as nature litigation) is on the rise - a recent case in Portugal has some important takeaways for the aviation industry:  ❓What was in fact decided❓ 👉 A successful lawsuit led to the abandonment of plans to build a new airport on the Tagus Estuary, Portugal’s most important wetland and a safe haven for millions of migratory birds. 👉 Instead an alternative location is being considered as I write this post. 💡There are several important takeaways from this case: 1️⃣ First, it demonstrates an increasing legal and judicial awareness of the importance of biodiversity and ecosystem richness. This increases nature liability risk across the board. 2️⃣ Second, its success points towards a necessary change in decision-making. When Luxury Meets Wildlife: At What Cost? The recent viral video of luxury cars brazenly entering the protected wilderness of Ranthambore National Park has sparked widespread outrage. In response, the National Green Tribunal (NGT) has swiftly taken suo motu cognizance, signaling the gravity of this issue. This incident is not just about a breach of environmental laws. It’s a stark reminder of the fragile balance between conservation and commercialization. Ranthambore, a sanctuary for endangered species like the majestic tiger, should be off-limits to reckless human intrusion. It was a pleasure to join a panel discussion on "Environmental Responsibility and Sustainability" alongside Aj.Am Chantinee Boonchai from PSU (Phuket) and K.Nok Kanokwan Homcha-aim from Anatara at the Thailand Yachting Conference 2025. . Here's the gist of my spiel. . Maritime has been part of humanity since our earliest times, and it has influenced how most global urban spaces are situated along the coastal areas. The challenges began to emerge as coastal cities grew too large and too complex to thoroughly and holistically manage our wastes, pollution, and impacts on the biodiversity in our oceans.
