Where is the next big #copper #discovery going to come from? How big is big? Does the deposit style matter in terms of control or limitation on size? The largest known #magmatic copper #sulphide deposit is #Norilsk - #Talnakh, in Siberia which is estimated to host approximately 20Mt of contianed copper. The #platreef #stratiform magmatic sulphide deposit (#ivanhoe mines) in the #bushveld region of South Africa contains around 2.7Mt of contained copper however also hosts over 30 million ounces of #PGE and #gold, along with approximately 4.6Mt of contained #nickel. The stratiform copper deposits of the Central African #Copperbelt are said to contain a combined 200 million tonnes of contianed copper metal, with one of the largest resources considered to be #kamoa-#Kakula, which boasts aroubd 43Mt of contained copper. The #Escondida #porphyry Cu deposit in Chile contains around 30Mt of contained copper. Then we have the giant Olympic dam #IOCG deposit in South Austrlaia, which contains around 80Mt of contained copper. Finally, the Neves-Corvo #Volcanic #massive sulphide deposit in Portugal is one of the largest #VMS copper resources hosting approximately 14.6Mt of contained copper. All of these deposits are #polymetallic, hosting large amounts of high-value accessory metals such as gold, platinum group elements and nickel.

Abitibi Metals Corp (CSE: AMQ) (OTC: AMQFF) (FSE: FW0) has provided an update on its drill program currently underway at the B26 Polymetallic Deposit in Quebec, Canada. Highlights: * chalcopyrite-bearing quartz veins were observed from 30 to 109.5 metres in one of the holes * 8m of around 20% chalcopyrite mineralization observed in another hole * 10% and 20% chalcopyrite mineralization observed in another hole For us geo noobs, chalcopyrite is a copper-rich mineralization that can often be seen visually, indicating that where there is smoke, there is fire. We’re anxiously waiting for lab results on this one, as we’re ever-more biased shareholders. A third drill might be arriving at site to speed things up. Wonderful. Want to Learn More? #TheNextBigRush

2 Generations of Smithsonite: #Smithsonite, or zinc spar, is zinc carbonate (ZnCO3), a mineral ore of zinc. Historically, smithsonite was identified with hemimorphite before it was realised that they were two distinct minerals. This Sample is from #Angouran #Mine (Anguran Mine), #Sheykhlar, #Zanjan #Province, #Iran. A Zinc Mine in Iran owned by NILZCO; It's VMS type deposit, located about 300 km NW of Teheran, and 120 km W of Zenjan. The deposit is worked from an open pit (the largest one in Iran). One of the major zinc producers in Iran. The main ore is smithsonite.

#ASXNews Copper identified in soil samples along strike-extensive gossans at Baratta Stelar Metals is pleased to provide an update on the initial results of the June exploration activities at the Baratta Copper Project in South Australia. Baratta is considered highly prospective for Sediment-hosted Stratabound Copper mineralisation and is analogous to the Central African Copper Belt. • Copper mineralisation identified in soil samples along four strike-extensive gossans at Baratta. • 1,182 soil samples were collected and analysed using portable XRF in June, with pXRF results up to 2% copper. • 77 rock chip samples were submitted for multi-element laboratory analysis along a 3.4km striking portion of the gossan, with results pending. • Historic Baratta #Copper Mine produced copper ore between 1896 and 1904 from a 1.5km long zone of workings. • Copper anomalism and mineralisation at the surface are underlain by dense and magnetic bodies, increasing prospectivity at Baratta. • Baratta’s geological setting displays characteristics Stelar considers similar to those seen in the Central African Copper Belt, the world’s second-largest copper-producing province. PORPHYRY COPPER DEPOSITS AND THEIR PRESENCE IN PAKISTAN Porphyry copper deposits are copper ore bodies that are formed from hydrothermal fluids that originate from a voluminous magma chamber several kilometers below the deposit itself. Predating or associated with those fluids are vertical dikes of porphyritic intrusive rocks from which this deposit type derives its name. In later stages, circulating meteoric fluids may interact with the magmatic fluids. Successive envelopes of hydrothermal alteration typically enclose a core of disseminated ore minerals in often stock work-forming hairline fractures and veins. Because of their large volume, porphyry orebodies can be economic from copper concentrations as low as 0.15% copper and can have economic amounts of by-products such as molybdenum, silver, and gold. In some mines, those metals are the main product. #porphrycopper #copper #coppermining

#ASXNews Bastion Minerals Limited is pleased to provide an update on its highly prospective high-grade Rare Earth Elements and Copper project in Sweden, the Gyttorp area no. 100. • Following the release of significant high grade #REE results to the ASX on 14 February 2024, today’s release provides an update on the significant high grade copper potential that exists within the property. • Four over-range samples were re-analysed, returning values of between 2.5% and 8.5% #copper, clustered in one area in the north of the property. • One of the original fifty-three samples taken by Bastion in the open ended > 500 m REE trend exceeded the upper detection for Cerium and has been re-analysed, returning 2.96% Cerium, along with 1.63% Neodymium. The trend may continue over 2 km of strike and the over-limit results for sample GYTR034 returned a significant 7.27% Total Rare Earth Elements (TREE) +Yttrium (Y). • One of the original fifty-three samples taken by Bastion in the open ended > 500 m REE trend exceeded the upper detection for Cerium and has been re-analysed, returning 2.96% #Cerium, along with 1.63% #Neodymium. Commenting on the latest results, #BMO Executive Chairman, Mr Ross Landles, said: “Bastion is pleased to provide these updated copper values, for samples which previously exceeded the upper detection limit for copper during the initial rock chip sampling program (Refer ASX Announcement 21 December, 2023). These results confirm high copper grades from 2.5 to 8.5%, associated with chalcopyrite in historical magnetite skarn mine workings sampled over a distance of 80 m, and open in both directions.” Full announcement: https://bit.ly/4c4HdNo #BastionMinerals #RareEarths #ASX
