There is no easy fix, UNFORTUNATELY. 2] Structural problems require structural gains for a solution. Using temporal measures is okay, but is not sustainable and can prove costly in repeated use. 3] What viable sectors […forex earners] do we have outside mining? Do we still import tooth picks from China? What is our level of dependency in terms of consumption? What have the mines done for the country? What’s next after debt restructuring? What’s the Zambian brand? Can monetary policy significantly address structural challenges? 4] The above questions will help you narrow down the root cause of the problem we try to solve on the surface and not from ground up. The Yuxiao Fund and its associates, linked to Chinese conglomerates, must reduce their shareholdings in Northern Minerals after the government deemed the purchase against the national interest.
