What does a green checkmark mean? It's a question I often don't spend time pondering. I skip right past those green checkmarks I see on company trust pages to download the reports, questionnaires and policies so I can dive into the company's posture. Are their policies mature? Is their SOC 2 scoped to the services I'm buying, is it a clean SOC, are the controls robust? When it's SaaS, what I really want to know is: are they searching for vulnerabilities and operating programs that target avoiding the introduction of vulnerabilities, proactively identifying those they weren't able to avoid and taking swift action to remediate those that are high risk.
