On this Indigenous Peoples Day, we encourage everyone to recognize and uplift the Indigenous communities in your area and across the world, many of whom are still experiencing oppression of their rights and liberties. Thread operates on the land and waters now known as Baltimore City that are the home of this area's first peoples: the Susquehannock Indians, Piscataway Indian Nation, Cedarville Band of Piscataway Indians, Choptico Band of Piscataway Indians, and the tribes of the Chesapeake watershed who have seemingly vanished since the arrival of colonialism. Thread acknowledges the diverse relationships this land continues to share with Indigenous nations of the Susquehanna River and Chesapeake Bay, and the displacement and damage caused by colonists’ thirst for acquisition and domination. #IndigenousPeoplesDay #Baltimore #Maryland #LandAcknowledgement #Indigenous #CommunityBuilding #Nonprofit #NewSocialFabric #WovenStrong

We are continuing to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month by highlighting our Hispanic staff! Sandy (she/ella), Gaviota (they/elle), and Jayme (she/ella) understand the importance of their roles in representing not only our young people, but connecting with the larger Baltimore community. Hear from them how their culture connects to their work, and how having Spanish-speakers makes a better, more equitable Thread. #Baltimore #Maryland #HispanicHeritageMonth #DEI #Bilingual #Spanish #CommunityBuilding #Nonprofit #NewSocialFabric #WovenStrong
