This is what I have been trying to stress. The governing policies in the production of leather / Tanning has ensured that the waste water or any chemical discharge from the tannery is treated properly before realising into the waste water into the open environment or natural bodies. The exaggeration of the carbon imprint left behind by leather production stagnates the industry. let's have the right information. Leather existed before us and focusing on its natural values solves a lot of climate issues and textile wastes caused by other synthetic materials. There are areas to adjust of cause and this includes moving towards natural tanning rather than chemical tanning, and with the covalent bonds formed between leather fibres and the chemicals leaves insignificant rooms for leaching of the chromium chemical into the soil. We love leather for what it does, we work on making it better not erasing it's use completely

Two of my favorite panel discussions at the global fashion summit ✨ “Pathways to Indigenous Partnerships” and “Scaling Tier 4 Best Practice” On a personal level, I believe these are the some of the most important aspects of regenerative farming. Embracing regenerative practices means looking back to traditional farming methods passed down through generations and communities by our ancestors. When implementing these practices on a larger scale, it is irresponsible and counterproductive to overlook the importance of collaborating with local communities. Ignoring their invaluable knowledge and experience undermines the long-term success of regenerative farming. Coming from a farming family and growing up on our farm, I understand the wisdom that only comes from decades of experience, and recognise the importance of respecting those who have been connected to and protecting our land for generations. The answers to our climate crisis are not just in your data and computer systems, it’s in the hands and hearts of our people who know this land and witness the impact of climate change first hand. This article 'Has sustainability Fallen Out Of Fashion' outlines a critical observation: while the fashion industry once buzzed with initiatives aimed at sustainability, recent seasons show a notable decline in these efforts. Only a few brands like Stella McCartney and Coach continue to make efforts toward sustainability. This decline in sustainability efforts is attributed to consumer behaviour not aligning with their expressed concerns for the climate crisis, tighter regulations on environmental claims in Europe, and a phenomenon known as "greenhushing," where brands refrain from discussing their sustainability initiatives to avoid regulatory backlash or misinformation. Confronted with these challenges, I believe a holistic and forward-thinking strategy is necessary to reignite the industry's commitment to sustainability. This strategy must encompass legislative measures, consumer education, collaborative industry efforts, and technological advancements. Here's how I envision such an approach unfolding. Amplifying Consumer Awareness and Participation ·        Global Awareness Campaigns: I see the need for extensive campaigns to educate consumers on the environmental footprint of their fashion choices and how to support sustainability. ·        Incentivising Sustainable Choices: Offering incentives for choosing sustainable products can shift consumer behaviour towards more eco-friendly options. Encouraging Industry Collaboration ·        Standardisation of Sustainability Practices: I propose the development of international sustainability standards for fashion, ensuring clarity and consistency. ·        Innovative Collaborations: A platform for collaboration between companies, scientists, and environmentalists could lead to breakthroughs in sustainable materials and methods. Leveraging Technological Breakthroughs ·        Sustainable Technology Investments: I am convinced that supporting R&D in technologies for sustainable fabrics and materials. ·        Digital and Technological Solutions: The adoption of digital fashion and technologies like AI and blockchain can enhance recycling processes and ensure transparency and traceability. I think the fashion industry is at a critical juncture in aligning its practices with urgent environmental sustainability needs. This approach not only positions the industry as a steward of the environment but also sets a precedent for global sustainability efforts. Thanks Lindsay for bringing this to our attention!
