As the inaugural executive director, I launched the Institute with our mayor in 2015. We've worked hard to make improvements in what can only be described as a very broken mental health system. Here’s a snapshot of some accomplishments in the past 9 years: Commercial health insurers are now required to pay for medically necessary treatment of any mental health and/or substance use disorder defined by the American Psychiatric Association, impacting millions of Californians who receive this care. Tens of thousands of Californians who live with a serious mental illness and are homeless, or at great risk of becoming homeless now have access to permanent housing with services attached, due to the Institute’s multi-year effort which, in the end, leveraged $2 billion and created the No Place Like Home Initiative. Californians who find themselves experiencing a mental health crisis can dial 9-8-8 and will receive a compassionate response from trained mental health professionals rather than a response from law enforcement. Your contribution will allow us to continue to do this important work, will help us maintain our non-profit status, and will go toward our efforts to improve people’s lives. It would be our honor to make progress with you as an ally.. We hope you will join in the movement by making a tax deductible donation. And, if you make a gift with a Golden 1 Credit Union (Golden 1 Credit Union) debit or credit card, your donation will be boosted by an additional match! https://lnkd.in/gzzjP3ZR #BDOG2024

You’ve probably seen a few of these today, but Team SustainRecruit is still fundraising for Stepping Stone House in their Sleep Under the Stars event – which is TONIGHT! Today is the FINAL day, and thanks to the generosity of the event's major partners, any donations made today will be MULTIPLIED BY 5! That means a $50 donation turns into $250, and $100 becomes $500! What impact does that have? Here’s how your multiplied donation can make a real difference: $25 x 5 = $125 — enough to cover a room setup and an emergency welcome pack for an at-risk youth. $45 x 5 = $225 — this provides five weeks of transport for a young person in Stepping Stone House’s care. $100 x 5 = $500 — enough to cover an entire year's worth of educational supplies for one young person! Even the cost of a standard coffee in Sydney (about $5) could make a big impact when multiplied by five. If it's within your means, we’d be so grateful for any support. Every little bit helps change the life of a young adult striving to break the cycle and turn their life around. Thank you for helping us make a difference! 💙 https://lnkd.in/eq_c2SAv

Latest update on Compassion Coffee!
Update on Compassion Coffee! Back in 2018, God gave us a vision to start a church with a heart to show compassion to those in need. Compassion Church was born as a result, along with the vision for Compassion Coffee. We started Compassion Coffee because of our deep desire to love our community well. While we currently operate a coffee cart, the dream is to open a brick and mortar coffeehouse! A coffeehouse not only gives us the opportunity to bring joy to Anoka every day through kindness and coffee, but also provides an opportunity to make a practical difference in the community by employing people affected by homelessness. While Compassion Coffee has always been wholly owned by Compassion Church, we’re excited to share that Compassion Coffee is now nonprofit! The main reason for this is that it allows us to share Compassion’s story more clearly and creates more opportunities for people to financially support. Our focus this year is to establish a training program and get the coffeehouse open! As we put time and energy into that, we also need your financial support. We’d love for you to consider a one-time or recurring donation, which is now tax-deductible. Donate here - https://lnkd.in/gmHCq8-v Thank you so much for your ongoing support! We’re confident there are some great things in store for 2024!!

Every child deserves to grow up feeling safe, loved, and part of a family. At Give a Child a Family Africa, we are committed to doing just that—helping children thrive in secure families, not institutions. But we can’t do it alone. It takes a community of caring hearts to prevent family breakdown, offer support through tough times, and provide safe homes when children are at risk. 🤍 Your support—whether as a once-off donation or a monthly gift—directly impacts children’s lives. It helps us run programmes that: 🤍 Keep families together through reunification and preservation efforts. 🤍 Equip parents with the skills they need to raise children in a loving environment. 🤍 Identify at-risk children and provide them with safe, family-based care. When you give, you become a Guardian of Hope, empowering us to offer children the love and security they need to grow into resilient adults.✨ This Monday, let’s start the week by making a difference. Together, we can ensure more children grow up surrounded by the care they deserve. 👉 Become a Guardian of Hope today: www.gcf.org.za/donate #MondayMotivation #GiveHope #ChildrenBelongInSecureFamilies #MakeADifference

We’re in the Final Stretch: Let’s Leap Over This Hurdle Together! As the sun sets on AZ Gives Day, we're inspired by the support we have seen from families and our supporters. One hurdle stands before us in reaching our goal for the Downtown East location. A therapy pad between two children's chairs—symbolizes more than just an obstacle. It represents the daily challenges our kids face and overcome daily in therapy as well as the hurdles we're trying to clear in fundraising to support their journeys. Your support has already brought us so far, but we're reaching out for one final push from the community. Each donation, big or small, helps us clear these hurdles, making every therapy session, every smile, and every achievement possible. Why Your Last-Minute Support Matters: Empowerment: You're not just helping us build a location; you're building futures, confidence, and independence for our kids. Impact: Every contribution tonight helps us cross the finish line stronger, ensuring that our services reach every child in need. Community: This is about more than donations; it's about coming together as a community to lift each other over life's hurdles. This AZ Gives Day, let's show our kids that no hurdle is too high when we have the support of our community behind us. #AZGivesDay #OvercomeHurdles #EmpowerOurKids #ucpofcentralaz

CEO/Founder - Teddy Bears with Heart Den of Good Bears of the World - Vice President of Strategic Account Management /Account Manager & CX Trainer - Women in Localization Member - Board Member - Monterey Moose Lodge
Pawsitively Bears Day #1: The inception of Teddy Bears with Heart traces back to a personal challenge during my divorce. Faced with the dilemma of what to do with 450 bears stored in boxes that I had collected through the beanie bear craze, a conversation with a friend who happened to be a fire captain sparked the initiative. I didn't want to throw the bears away, he volunteered to take a few off of my hands. I then started thinking, who else could use bears so I started looking. I have always been one of those who "see a need, fill a need" kind of people. As TBWH grew we decided we wanted to be a non-profit. At the time it cost a lot so I did some online research and found Good Bears of the World. They have been in business since the 70s and did exactly what I wanted to do. I contacted them and they agreed to let us be a Den. Since 2008 we have given out over 200,000 stuffed animals and are gifting to first responders and other agencies in over six counties, not to mention throughout the U.S. and Internationally, when we can. The primary mission of Teddy Bears with Heart is to provide comfort to children in crisis, the forgotten elderly, and the terminally ill. Importantly, TBWH emphasizes our commitment to being a resource during times of genuine need, steering away from serving as mere Christmas gifts, prizes, or incentives. The focus remains on offering support and solace to those facing challenging circumstances. www.tbwh.org/donate #shareabearbecauseyoucare #pawsitivelybears #TeddyBearsWithHeart #NonProfit #Support #Comfort #Resource #FirstResponders #ChildrenInCrisis #Elderly #TerminallyIll

Love-based support is essential for each of us, from the first steps to the whole journey through life. Especially, during challenges or difficult times that come into our lives sometimes gradually and sometimes rapidly. As a mother of four children myself, I can confirm that isolation is real. As parents or caregivers, I believe that we should teach our children as early as possible that emotions are real. Thus, they will be able to identify and express their feelings and ask for support as needed. Would love to see more curricula centered on parenting, communication, leadership, emotions, etc. which all could be linked to history, science, math, or language classes. What are your thoughts or comments?
"No one tells you about the loneliness" – Jocelyn, Carya Participant Parenting can often feel isolating. Carya offers a wide range of programs for parents of young children to promote bonding, connection and family functioning, equipping parents and caregivers with the knowledge and techniques needed for a strong start. All donations made before August 31st are eligible to be matched up to 50% through Rogers Birdies for Kids presented by AltaLink. Your contribution will help provide barrier-free early childhood parenting programs, giving children and their families the best start in life. Visit https://lnkd.in/e5Ced2P5 and donate today!
