I’ve been working in the 0-5 population for more than 25 years . I’ve never found this to be true . I have many African American colleges we are paid the same depending on years of experience and education . However , educators should definetly get paid more .

I see a lot of issues in our field. The issues need to be addressed, we cannot expect high quality early care when our staff is making very low salaries. Advocate, raise your voice !
A former coworker told one of our parents many years ago what her salary was. Needless to say, they were absolutely shocked. I can't say I've been in this field for 31 years for the money.
This is sad to see however I’m glad it’s out there. It’s unfortunate that black educated women are paid less.

6moI graduated with a degree in birth-kindergarten education and had experience and during my interview as a preschool teacher was offered 11.50 an hour as a lead teacher working from 6am-6pm back in 2012. This is still happening.
