VXB Aerospace fires up breakthrough AI-designed satellite thruster 🛰 This image shows the successful firing of our Zephyr thruster in our vacuum chamber. 🚀 The ionised argon plasma plume can be seen ejecting from the channel of the thruster producing the highly efficient thrust that makes this underlying Hall effect technology the most desired type of satellite propulsion by the industry. We completed the design, manufacturing and testing in just 4 months. This is the first time that the Australia & NZ region has the capability to produce electric propulsion systems for satellites larger than 50kg, critical for unlocking satellite capabilities in the region as demand surges. This is also the first use of AI to tackle complex design challenges in satellite propulsion, our proprietary algorithms saved us significant time and cost. Using the proprietary structure in our Zephyr propulsion, we’ll be the first company in the world to sell electric propulsion that runs on argon propellent, a fraction of the cost to alternative fuels.
