How the world changes in 10 years... When I first joined, Hadoop and Open Channel were still hot topics. I spent more hours than I care to count testing HBase with our 1st generation product in an unairconditioned warehouse in Fremont (mostly fighting Java GC latency). Now here we are on our 4th generation NVMe SSDs along with an explosion of recently announced silicon. Persistence really is a fitting word. But we've also had steady engineering leadership that has made sure that each generation built on the one before it. This doesn't always happen (IYKYK). I'm very proud of our latest Gen5 NVMe controller and SSD because it truly is the culmination of 10 years of experience from some of the best engineers in the SSD industry (that and it's screaming fast). If you caught me in the video, my contribution to the "one word that describes ScaleFlux" was "open." Since I joined, our internal work culture has been one of openness and visibility. But more than that, we strive to be open to our customers, our partners, and our industry. For example, we were the first SSD manufacturer to open source hardware designs through OCP. This spirit of openness is not something that goes on our datasheets, but I think it's just as important as hitting 3M+ IOPS. Here's to the next 10 years.
