The 2023 edition of The Conference formerly known as Conversion Hotel was a special edition. The 10th edition, the golden edition. I just read all the extensive feedback attendees provided through the survey we sent last week. The average attendee experience score on a scale from 1 (awful) to 5 (awesome) was 4.96! Our Net Promotor Score Score is +97, wow, Thank you! Just published is the #CH2023 event overview website, with: 1. #CH2023 - The Video, a 4 minute summary by Piet van Steen (who also recorded the full-length keynote videos, which will be released soon for the video access members). 2. #CH2023 - The Album, with the songs Tobi Lessnow (Baldower) created for every keynote speaker - highly recommended listen. 3. #CH2023 - The Speakers - 1 speaker from each of the 10 editions of Conversion Hotel (Michael Aagaard, Tim Stewart, Lucia van den Brink ✨️, André Morys, Simone Neeling, Annegien Bruins Slot, Karl Gilis, Joanna Wiebe, Els Aerts, and Greg Shapiro) with their slides, notes of their talk, and small video intros. 4. #CH2023 - The Memories, a fun selection of pictures from the event. 5. #CH2023 - The Shared Folder, containing all slides, songs, pictures etc. Check out the #CH2023 event overview website here: https://lnkd.in/eJAnmcfY During the event, the attendees played games and raised €2664 for Texel charities with their team tasks. I received great feedback on moving away from welcome packages leading to waste, to team bonding games to raise money for charity. Together with our local connections on Texel, we decided that we will donate: 1. €1250 to Stichting Tesselhuus - they organize holidays on Texel for people with physical disabilities. 2. €1414 to Het Texelfonds - the local community fund of Texel. We hear it often - start with why. However, we can't just start with it. We have to carry it with us in every conversation along the way. Otherwise, we risk the chance we will sightly 'bend' to accept that donation, to partner with that organization that doesn't quite align with us, or to say yes to the things that seem promising only to realize we have confused our passion - what feels good in the moment - with our purpose - what is at the core of why we are doing anything in the first place. It's so to get off track and not stand on the foundational purpose of our work or our calling. Next week, I will be speaking at the CLA Outcomes Conference on not only 'starting with why' from an organization's perspective, but also understanding the 'why not' of your potential donor and how your purpose is a key part (but not the only part) of the equation to reach the purpose of your audience. Some Charities are content with qualifying a grant recipient, disbursing the funds and moving onto the next. However, by doing this they are missing out on a trick. When there is a disparity 🤷♂️ between Charity grant funds and grant funds received, public confidence lowers. Consequentially, public donations tend to fall. But if Charities track the funds, the pendulum will swing the other way. Statistics have shown that once diligence and transparency on grants funds delivered/received increases so does public confidence. And yes you guessed it... so do public donations. Homeless have been removed from roadsides, just the same as Sydney removed communities from Redfern during the Olympic games. Our "girls" we support at Lodhi gardens lights are not allowed to beg right now... Which means they have no money for essentials. In all my years of giving to those in need I have never once... 1. Had anyone make excessive demands 2. Had anyone not smile broadly when handed donations 3. Complain about an item I brought them was incorrect If you are ever in India and want to know what to give. Here are the top 5 items: 1. Mustard Oil - 2 litre 2. Artar - 5kg flour 3. Pears soap bars 4. Rice - 5kg 5. Tea - loose leaf 500g 6. Sugar - 500g 7. Chaffing powder - for prinkly heat Two hampers of the above list will cost you around 2000r or $35 AUD. If you have some time - stop by your locsl Goverment store and get a few bundles of the above.
