❓ Anyone out there utilizing FBA (fulfilled by Amazon) as part of their product-based business operations? Comment if that's you! Today is a notable day! After originally planning to start these fees in April, May 1st is the day that Amazon is starting to charge a "low inventory fee" for merchants who use FBA services. 🔎 More detail: ➡ In an effort to maintain their speedy shipping services, Amazon wants to ensure they have enough inventory available to deliver as quickly as possible. Without enough inventory on hand, they have their hands tied. ❓ Will your business need to pay the fee? Keeping your inventory at Amazon's desired level will be crucial to being able to avoid this fee. 🔬 Scrutinizing your inventory levels and tracking your data in real-time is KEY. Develop a way to track your inventory levels automatically. Your POS or other software systems likely have some built-in functionality! Now add review to your daily processes. 📲 If you don't have a ready-made tool or process, we're on your side! We create tools and processes like this for our clients all the time. Digital Services Fee Effective October 1st, 2024! Starting from October 1st, 2024, Amazon will introduce a new Digital Service Fee applicable in the UK, France, Spain, Italy, and Canada. If your business is established in any of these countries and sells in the US Store, this fee will apply to you as well. How Will the Digital Service Fee Be Charged? The Digital Service Fee will be either 2% or 3%, depending on the country, and will be applied to the referral fee or both the referral fee and FBA fee. Example Calculation: Referral Fee: $3 FBA Fee: $5 If the Digital Service Fee is 3%, the charges will be as follows: Digital Service Fee on Referral Fee: 3% of $3 = $0.09 Digital Service Fee on Both Referral and FBA Fees: 3% of $3 (Referral Fee) + 3% of $5 (FBA Fee) = $0.09 + $0.15 = $0.24 If you sell 2000 units/Month (with this fee), Amazon is going to charge you $180 or $480. Prepare your business for this upcoming “Digital Services Fee” impact!

I was shocked to see this picture from a client. Have you experienced something like this before? As many of you know, #Chargebacks are a common issue for #AmazonVendors. A familiar one is #CartonInformationCompliance. This defect happens when a box arrives at an Amazon FC without an appropriate carton label or box information sent in the ASN ahead of the receive process. It then causes Amazon to receive the goods manually, charging €0.12 per item and also contributing to the risk of a mismatched quantity, and therefore #ShortageClaims. Being an ASN+SSCC system, we expect that these issues are completely eradicated once our systems are in place. So when I was doing a checkup on one of our more recently joined users, I was surprised to see issues still persisting and costing €100s each month for their EU shipments. Naturally, I reached out to the user to check their warehouse was operating correctly, labelling and so on - and they replied with the news that they were actually already aware of the issue. Despite their hard work and attention to detail with labelling, their carrier was over-labelling their carton labels with blank white labels, or striking them through with a marker pen. This meant their labels were basically useless. It's getting to the point the user is considering switching carriers - though this will require a new integration as well as negotiating terms. However, risk of shortages and lost profitability with Amazon quickly make a compelling business case. Needless to say I was shocked seeing this from the carrier. Apparently all efforts with nearby labels saying "do not obscure this barcode" etc. are fruitless. So - my lesson for today - even if you're doing everything correctly in your warehouse, you can still have chargebacks. Has anyone else had a similar experience? How did you get around this? /// KhooCommerce is a SaaS tool that helps your internal teams process Amazon Vendor POs more efficiently and effectively to reduce shortages, chargebacks and administration time. Want to go crazy? Try mapping vendor invoices to POs to payments. You might assume there is a 1:1 relationship between Amazon PO, your invoice, and Amazon's payment. You might assume Amazon gives you the fields/indexes to verify this easily across data sources. They do not. Each data source has its own unique fields, some of which may contain the information you need, and others end up being incompatible, requiring you to pull in even more reports to make sense of anything. For example, if you believe Amazon underpaid you, you must connect: 1. Amazon's payment details 2. Amazon's list of paid invoices 3. Customer shipment coop invoices 4. Distributor shipment coop invoices + refunds 5. Amazon's purchase orders and your responses 6. Your invoices to Amazon 7. Every derivative invoice variant Amazon creates, e.g. those SC- and SCR suffixes. 8. ......plus any supporting documentation from your own ERP etc. Ideally, each of those reports would have the same fields for you to index on: ASIN, PO number, Invoice ID, etc. But (of course) each report has different fields, with many-to-many relationships between them. So you have to transform and combine data for each analysis. This critical work is often invisible, being performed manually by overtaxed receivables departments or an analyst. We recently wrote a whitepaper that highlights just how difficult it is to manage Vendor remittance. But, GOOD NEWS...we've also released our Vendor Profit Toolkit, which will help brands easily connect and drill down into their data, simplifying this process immensely.
