Remember that scene in Jurassic Park? In our latest #thoughtshot, Achieving Immortality: Our Jurassic Park Future, we flip through the pages of tomorrow’s genetic playbook using cutting edge science and the film Jurassic Park. Visionary thinkers like Peter H. Diamandis, founder and chairman of XPRIZE and Human Longevity, Inc. and Altos Labs, Doctor Morgan Levine are at the forefront of this r[evolution.] Peter Diamandis walks us through xenotransplantation and the idea of longevity escape velocity. ‘For every year you’re alive, science is extending your life by a quarter or a third…’ Interesting concept, although in our humble opinion, in Jurassic Park, longevity is had if you escape the velociraptor! While Doctor Morgan Levine, previously at Yale School of Medicine, suggests ‘if we reverse or slow the aging process, we could potentially eliminate or postpone all diseases across the board.’ Think about this for a sec... Imagine extending our lifespan, and our future and eliminating all diseases? It’s not just science fiction anymore - it's really happening! But serious question, what’s your favourite scene in Jurassic Park? #thoughtshot #science #innovation #medicine #BioTech #GeneEditing https://lnkd.in/gq-WyYGs

🦖Learning from Jurassic Park: How Toxic Culture Led To Its Own Extinction ☠️ “I don’t blame people for their mistakes, but I do ask that they pay for them” - John Hammond We've all marveled at the spectacle of Jurassic Park, where dinosaurs once again roamed the Earth. But beneath the surface of this technological marvel lay a cautionary tale about the perils of toxic culture. Dennis Nedry and John Hammond have a discussion that foreshadows the park's eventual downfall. As Nedry expresses concerns about his financial constraints and the pressure to deliver results, Hammond shuts his employee down. He refuses to “get drawn into another financial debate” to which Nedry responds “It’d hardly be any debate at all” showing us this isn’t a two sided conversation. Nedry is a critical team member, and in fact the only one who can bring the system back online in the event of a failure. If we look at his behavior, the fact that Nedry is expressing his frustration to John on the Control Center floor is further evidence he is reaching his breaking point. Where did it go wrong? ❌ Ignoring Team Members: The single, biggest failure that John Hammond made, was not listening to his team members. If he had taken accountability and made every effort to ensure his staff’s success and happiness, the Isla Nublar incident would never have happened. ❌ Lack of Transparency: Jurassic Park was built on secrecy, with crucial information withheld from employees. There was no culture of openness or accountability, leading to catastrophic consequences. ❌ Disregard for Well-being: Safety culture was non existent, with lives lost and attempted coverups to follow. The safety and well-being of both employees and guests were repeatedly compromised in the pursuit of profit and prestige. ❌ Resistance to Change: Despite mounting evidence of the park's inherent dangers, there was a stubborn refusal to acknowledge or address systemic issues. This resistance to change only exacerbated the situation. So, what can we learn from the cautionary tale of Jurassic Park? Toxic Culture must be eliminated! ✅The good news is, it can be easy to change! Start Today, Talk To Your Team! 🌟 Give them a raise for no reason. 🌟 Plan a random day off for everyone. 🌟 Do something that unites instead of divides. Share your thoughts: How do you prioritize culture and ethics in your organization? Stage 7 takes the peloton from the Jura to the Alps. To be precise: we ride from Champagnole in the Jura Mountains to Le Grand Bornand in the Alps. The Alps typically steal the show in bike races. They take the attention away from the lesser-known Jura. That’s not correct. The Jura have a lot to offer. The notoriously steep gradients of the Jura are quite the challenge. But what are the Jura? Why are they so steep? And why are they separate from the Alps? And how can we use is geology for our sustainability goals. Let’s find out! We go from Jura to the Alps. Thomas Schouten of ETH Zürich is our guide. https://lnkd.in/egNZSZ-u KNAG (Koninklijk Nederlands Aardrijkskundig Genootschap) Universiteit Utrecht Faculteit Geowetenschappen (Universiteit Utrecht) KNGMG Royal Geological and Mining Society of the Netherlands TNO Naturalis Biodiversity Center Nederland #TDFF2024 #geoTDF

🏛️ A Time Traveler's Take on CRO and the Acropolis🏛️ Walking through the ancient Acropolis, I couldn't help but draw parallels to my work in CRO. Amidst these historic ruins, the blend of innovation and tradition sparked insights into how we approach digital spaces. It's a reminder that understanding the past is crucial before embarking on new changes. 📖 Lessons Learned from Empires Past Observing how different empires expanded upon the Acropolis without fully grasping its essence struck a chord. It mirrors the way some in the CRO field hastily implement trends without considering a site's unique history. Remember, not every shiny new tactic is a one-size-fits-all solution. 🔍 Digging Deeper: The Archaeology of CRO Just as archaeologists uncover the layers of history to understand ancient sites, CRO experts must delve into analytics and user feedback before making recommendations. This approach ensures that changes are meaningful and based on solid data, rather than just gut feelings and personal preferences based on your own "taste". 🏗️ Building on Solid Foundations for Future Growth My visit to the Acropolis reinforced the importance of building upon a solid foundation. In CRO, this means respecting what has worked in the past while carefully integrating new strategies. It’s about evolution, not revolution, ensuring that changes are sustainable and impactful. ⚡ Greek Gods Go Digital And if nothing works, believe in the gods! Zeus zapping bounce rates lower and Hermes speeding up site loads. Aphrodite beautifies UIs, making users love at first click, while Dionysus boosts engagement with wine. Mixing mythology with CRO? Divine strategy! 😉 ___ #CRO #UserExperience #DigitalMarketing #ConversionOptimization #LessonLearned #DivineStrategy
