ZOMA is 'Your Zone of Mutual Agreement' and is the area where an agreement is to the satisfaction of both seller and buyer. It essentially refers to the area between walk-away positions in a negotiation, sometimes called the bargaining zone. For example: Say you're selling a product and your selling range is £1600 - £2300, and your buyer's buying range is £1,400 - £2,000. The zone of mutual agreement is from £1600 - £2,000, so you have £400 of common ground to find a compromise. When you know the ZOMA, and where you and your potential buyer are aligned, you, a skilled negotiator, can create an agreement that is most favourable for you and the parties you're negotiating with.
