Just completed the "Measuring Learning Effectiveness" course by Jeff Toister—so insightful! This course highlighted the importance of using the Kirkpatrick Four Levels of Evaluation before developing a program. Starting from the bottom up, the Kirkpatrick Model helps identify how to measure a program's impact before it even begins: Level 4: What metrics can be used to measure the impact on results? Level 3: What behaviors are necessary from participants to achieve these results? Level 2: What do participants need to learn to exhibit these behaviors? Level 1: What program elements are necessary for the learning to be effective? I listened to a really great webinar about "Maximizing the Return on Your Training Investments." At first, I was shocked by his statistics that so few companies even attempt to calculate their ROI or KPI impact, but then I realized that was us just a few years ago. We knew training was important, and believed in its impact, but that was where the data ended. After years of new learning initiatives and technical training strategies, we have not only discovered the importance of data tracking, but crave creating dashboards and displays for it!
