If you're in a career transition & make less than $100k, I truly think aiming for a data scientist role is the wrong choice. Not because Data Scientist < Data Analyst. But because the bar is just so much lower to become a Data Analyst. Data Analyst roles have: - less math - less statistics - less programming - more openings My advice? Become an analyst first. Keep the goal of becoming a scientist. But do it on the company's dime & time ✌

This makes so much sense, I even suggest folks from non-tech can go for roles like operations analyst or Business Analyst and slowly build their skill and domain knowledge then transition to a Full stack Data Analyst role or specialised data science role

Building a Career in Data Analysis | ICT Specialist Focused on Data-Driven Insights | Learning Finnish to Integrate into Finland’s Job Market
I'm excited to share a milestone in my data analysis journey. Recently, I've been diving deep into data visualization techniques, and I wanted to showcase one of my latest projects. 📊 Project Highlight: Data Job Insights 📊 As part of my learning, I created a series of pie charts to visualize key insights from a dataset on job roles in the data industry. Here's a summary of what I discovered: Job Titles Distribution: The most common job titles are Data Analyst, Data Engineer, and Data Scientist. Each plays a crucial role in the data ecosystem, and it's fascinating to see their distribution. Job Degree Requirements: A significant portion of data-related jobs do not explicitly require a degree, highlighting the value of skills and experience in this field. Work From Home Availability: With the shift towards remote work, it's interesting to see that a majority of these roles offer the possibility to work from home, reflecting the evolving work culture. Looking forward to continuing this learning journey and sharing more insights with you all. If you have any tips or resources on data analysis and visualization, I’d love to hear from you! #DataAnalysis #DataVisualization #LearningJourney #LinkedInLearning #Python #Matplotlib #DataScience #RemoteWork

Hello everyone, Let’s talk about something that’s been on my mind lately: the crazy competition for Data Analyst jobs. Seriously, if you’ve been eyeing those positions, you’ve probably noticed how cutthroat it’s gotten. But guess what? There’s a better way to go about this. It’s a Jungle Out There Have you seen how many applications these Data Analyst jobs get? We’re talking over 1000 applicants for a single position. It’s insane! Don’t limit yourself to just Data Analyst roles. There are tons of other analyst positions out there that need similar skills, especially an analytical mindset. You don’t always need to be a SQL or Python wizard to analyze data. They need someone who can think critically and make sense of the data, not just someone who can write code. Your ability to understand the context and communicate insights effectively can be a bigger asset than knowing the latest coding trend. Lots of organizations are looking for people who have domain knowledge and good communication skills. Don't just limit yourself to just Data analyst roles.

Stop worrying about job titles! Especially don’t worry about titles that business owners have given themselves. It’s their business. They can call themselves whatever they want. “Principal Scientist”? You’re the only scientist. Moreover, there isn’t a universal title/seniority scale. One company’s Sr. Data Scientist could be another company’s Staff Data Scientist. Last job hunting season, I turned down a Staff Data Scientist role for a Sr. Data Scientist role (my current role). Even though the title for my current job is “worse”, the base pay is a lot better. I never think to myself, “oh man, I made a mistake by turning down a Staff role”. The following is a lot more important than job title: ✅ Pay ✅ Work-life-balance ✅ The work ✅ Coworkers How do you feel about job titles? Let me know in the comments down below! ———- If you would like to see more content surrounding: ✅ data science ✅ operations research ✅ careers ✅ job searching Then make sure to follow Steven Stark on LinkedIn! #datascience #career
