This year, I'm thinking about what it means to be a white Australian that supports the voice of First Nations people. When I think of this, two key questions come to mind... 1. How do I lead Symphona to be an organisation that recognises the hurt of First Nations people from atrocities committed against them; when my whole working life January 26 has been just another public holiday in that funny time of year that every second Tuesday is a holiday? 2. How do I teach my son about First Nations culture and history, when I myself am still learning? I don't have all the answers but this year I'm taking the 'I'll try and maybe I'll fail, but I'll still have tried" approach. What I'll be trying: - Giving people the option to work or take the day. Shoutout to Casey Farrell for giving me this option. One I hadn't ever thought about in my work life before. - Taking the day off myself and going to the Hobart rally - Heading off to camp and enjoy the land that always was and always will be First Nations land. - Reading 'Come Together' by Isaiah Firebrace with my son - Registering on https://lnkd.in/gQ_wHRmr What are you doing? #australia #work #learning #people #changethedate
