"If you’re looking for work it is important to know how much of the void — no responses, callbacks or signs of life – are actually because of your application versus circumstances beyond your control. In a targeted search of the internet, for my own benefit of knowledge, I found and pulled together what I would call a #Hiring Lifecycle where Job Seekers can see dips in hiring and can plan for them. Here is what I found out and what I recommend you do about it" https://lnkd.in/g6x-YX8H #JobSearch #CareerAdvice #JobHunt #Career #CareerDevelopment #SacredTime #coachingforwomen

How should you approach employers during a #jobsearch? Something I've noticed about #jobseekers is that they often like to play hard to get — even during tough job markets. While that approach may work if you're actively being recruited by an employer, it won't work if you're the one going out and applying to roles. Instead, pitch yourself as the solution to the employer's problem(s)! I explain more in my latest #GetHired video.

The job market has been intense so my team and I decided to put something together for professionals looking for their next role... Why? Well we were like, why not?! We’re taking Tuesday and Wednesday to give you personalized, detailed feedback with recommendations on rewording and restructuring your resume to ensure you’re maximizing how you convey your value (we have a copy written formula we use that helped the business take off back in 2018 due to its success helping people land jobs) Then when we send your resume back you’ll get our comprehensive job search strategic plan to help you work smarter on your job search by implementing non-traditional, effective strategies without overexerting yourself physically, mentally, and emotionally We've partnered with an ERG, so our first 50 spots are taken but we're taking another 50! We’ve already blocked the day, developed our system for reviewing in 48 hours, and assessed bandwidth. Last time we did this without a cap we got an overwhelming response that had us all burnt out 😩🫠 We're calling this our Labor Day Special 😏 First 50– let’s go 😉. I help government hiring managers find skilled Human Resource professionals and Grants Officers to support their growth trajectories. Let’s collaborate to drive impactful change and growth within your team!
Think being a recruiter is just about filling vacancies? Think again! Let's bust a common myth about recruiters! While some might see us as just plugging job openings, the reality is so much more dynamic and impactful. As recruiters, we're like modern-day Cupids, career coaches, and vibe curators all in one package. Our mission? Not just to fill a spot, but to spark that perfect match that sets both the candidate and the company on fire. Recently, I placed a candidate into a grants processing role. Now, this wasn't exactly in their past wheelhouse, but they had this undeniable hunger to help the community during a time of need as well as wanting to broaden their horizons. They expressed their eagerness for growth and the opportunity to lend a helping hand wherever they can. Taking stock of their transferable skills, I stumbled upon this grants processing opportunity. It felt like fate knocking on the door— it was perfect timing and it felt like this role was meant to be. Fast forward two weeks into their new role, and I get this call. It's that same candidate, bubbling with excitement, sharing all the knowledge and skills they've been soaking up in their fresh role and how gratifying and fulfilled they were feeling being able to make an impact and help out the community. That moment hit differently. Hearing the genuine satisfaction and happiness in their voice and knowing I played a part in that journey is exactly what lights me up. For me, it's not just about filling slots; it's about catalysing change, about shaping futures. Knowing that I'm placing people in positions where they can thrive and grow professionally—it's the kind of fulfillment that keeps me going. It's why I love what I do. Because in the end, it's about the impact, the growth, and the transformation. 💎Eager to grow your skill set and develop your career? Helping woman in Tech/Engineering land their next $200k+ leadership role in 90 days | DM me "CAREER" to apply | Executive Career Coach | HBR Advisory Council Member | Client wins @ Google Meta Microsoft | Ex-SLB, Amazon
“We don’t hire candidates with a career break.” When my client decided to take a couple of years off to care for her little toddler, she didn’t realize that what she thought was the most rewarding time of her life would also become the biggest roadblock to her career growth. Despite having a fast-tracked career at a Big 4 consulting firm, she was repeatedly told, “we don’t hire candidates with a career break”. As a working mother, we’re almost made to believe that we have to choose between prioritizing our family or our career. But it doesn’t have to be this way. It starts with understanding why the hiring team has concerns about your career gap. Sure, some people hold all sorts of biases against working moms. We don’t want to work at those companies anyway. For the rest, their only concern is in addition to their already overloaded plate, they don’t want to hand-hold you for months because they feel your skills and experience are not “current” anymore. You can fill this perception gap. Here are the exact steps I followed with my clients to fill this perception gap in her skills: 1. REWIRE YOUR BELIEF The first crucial step in overcoming the “career gap” objection in the job search is to rewire your belief and stop seeing your career break as a disadvantage. Only when you stop seeing your career gap as a problem, can you confidently convince the hiring team why you are still the best candidate for the role even with multiple years off on your Resume. 2. RESTRUCTURE YOUR RESUME Second, we restructured her Resume to bring up her Education section to the top of the Resume. This closed the gap in work history and showed that she had simply taken time off to pursue her two Masters full-time. 3. REFRESH YOUR LINKEDIN Finally, we gave her LinkedIn a facelift. We created a keyword-rich LinkedIn profile that clearly highlighted the impact she made on her previous organizations, positioning her as a senior-level candidate in her field of expertise. RESULT Within 5 weeks of working together, she is moving forward in the interview process with one of the largest Tech companies in the world. If you are returning to work after caring for your little ones, you don’t have to do it alone. DM me “CAREER” or apply for my job search accelerator at the link in comments and we’ll create a custom plan to help you land your next $200k+ role in 90-120 days.

47% of recruiters said they would reject a candidate who had little knowledge about the company where they’re applying to. Researching about the company you're applying to can make a significant difference in your application! It shows your genuine interest and it can help you tailor your application to the needs and culture of the company. You can learn more about a company by visiting the company's website and reading the 'About Us' section. Additionally, you can also look at their social media channels to get a sense of their culture and how they interact with customers and clients. A few insights for job seekers....
Founder | Big Wave Recruiting| HR Recruitment | HR Connector | Cultural Alignment | Leadership Team Development | DEIB | HR Consulting | HR Business Strategy | HR Trends
Job seekers, here are some timely insights to keep in mind during your job search: - This time of year, the job market is traditionally slow as decision makers are on vacation enjoying the last days of summer. - There isn't an "out of office" message on LinkedIn so reach out through email when possible. You may learn your contact's availability. - Expect a surge in job seekers as professionals return from summer breaks, leading to more competition. - In a typical year, hiring increases in Q4 and there could be more consulting work available if companies are playing wait and see. - Don’t be discouraged by the high number of people you see applying to the same positions – many are not qualified, live out of state, and don’t respond to recruiter outreach. It’s actually a much lower number of people that you are competing with. - Your network should include other people looking for work as what is right for you may be different than what is right for them. - Optimize your LinkedIn profile so recruiters can find you – some of you look like you are in a witness protection program and wonder why you don’t hear from recruiters. #BigWaveRecruiting #HireTopTalent #HiringTips #HRRecruiter #HRSearch #HumanResourcesRecruiting #HumanResourcesRecruiter #Recruiter #JobSearchTips

Have some gaps on your resume? Here are some tips to help address them: 📣 Context Matters: In today’s job market, employers view gaps more flexibly due to remote work and the gig economy. They often see them as indicators of adaptability and diverse experience rather than shortcomings. 🔎 Short Gaps: Employment gaps of less than six months are unlikely to stand out. You may not even need to explain a shorter gap, as six months is a standard timeframe for job searches! One-Time Occurrence: A single gap on your resume is unlikely to raise red flags. Context matters, so if there’s a good reason (relocation, family emergency, career change, layoffs, etc), it’s less concerning 2-Year Gap: A 2-year gap requires an explanation. Mention any activities during this time that contributed to your personal or professional growth, even if they aren’t directly related to the job you’re applying for 📈 How to Show Gaps: List the gap as a sabbatical in your work history. Include start and end dates, give a reason, and highlight any positive activities during that time! Remember, honesty and transparency are key. 🔑 Explain gaps confidently, emphasizing what you learned or accomplished during those periods. 🤗 #jobsearch #resumebuilding #advice
