B2B marketers are often caught in a tug-of-war between product teams pushing for product-focused strategies and sales teams emphasizing the need for a strong sales pipeline. B2B marketing is having a “Brand” moment. Everyone seems to talking about the importance of Brand in b2b marketing and how this is the “new” path to unlocking growth. The same people who were talking about growth and demand gen as the only thing in marketing 12 months ago, have now changed their tunes and are singing praises about “Brand”. Some unsolicited advice - Don’t get caught up in the Brand Vs Demand Gen conversation. It is very unhelpful and totally pointless. Both are equally important. Ultimately it all depends on your specific context - company stage and size / industry / ICP etc. Don’t fall into the trap of over emphasising one over the other just because others are shouting about it. Don’t blindly copy someone else’s playbook. Do what makes sense for you right now and be flexible to adapt and change based on your business needs.
