“Belted Kingfisher”. This female belted kingfisher is a great example of reverse sexual dimorphism. Only the females have the red markings, whiles males are a plainer blue and white. These birds are pretty common around here since we have plenty of ponds, slow moving creeks, lakes, etc. that they like. Why? Why is there an exemption for churches, when we talk about service animals? I know what the law explains about this. Every article about this incident says the same thing. Federal law allows this as an "exemption". What these articles do not go into is, should it? The fundamental rule of accessibility and removing barriers for those who require accessibility features is to afford them opportunities to be part of society to the maximum extent possible and within reason. I'd venture to guess that attending church (something that is a big part of the lives of many people) is an integral component of being "part of society" and allowing a vital resource for these individuals so they can go to church is more than reasonable. We've lost two chickens in three days. Two juvenile hawks have been circling and identified their kills. We began a couple of years ago with two tiny chicks, built up to five and now... All that remains, once again, is a duo. I hate losing animals, but growing up on a farm (or "farm-like home"), I'm accustomed to the circle of life, yet that doesn't make it any easier. Loss is a tremendously active part of our lives: Be it pets, friendships, time, respect of self/peers, freedoms... and there are so many ways we can lose freedom, too.
