Kansas City's university is the home of so many KC leaders, but don't just take my word for it! Check out this article from KC mag featuring our Chancellor, alumni and, yes, Patrick Mahomes!
What do Chancellor Mauli Agrawal and Patrick Mahomes have in common? They both made the list of the 50 most powerful people in Kansas City! They're in good company, too. We are proud to see lots of Roos make the list. Congrats to our alumni George Guastello II, Shirley Helzberg, Klassie Alcine, Michael Brown, Jennifer Collier, Rep. Sharice Davids, John Sherman and Stacey Graves!

Founder, Dunmore Capital Ventures | COO, Simply Global | Impact & Angel Investor | International Speaker | Global Philanthropist | 50+ Countries | CONNECTING FOUNDERS with FUNDERS! $6 MILLION IN FUNDING SECURED!
HAPPY THANKSGIVING AND HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME! The word of God reminds us in Ecclesiastes 7:12 that “wisdom is a defense, as MONEY IS A DEFENSE!” And sadly enough, for the overwhelming majority of Americans in today’s economy (especially in communities of color) - WE ARE DEFENSELESS. Record inflation and rising mortgage rates, compounded by systemic inequities, has interrupted our ability to raise capital for our businesses, which is WHY I CREATED ACCESS GRANTED. It’s also the reason why if you are reading this message, MY TEAM NEEDS YOUR HELP. In 2020 alone (during the height of the pandemic), 41% of BLACK BUSINESS OWNERS went completely OUT OF BUSINESS! Not because they didn’t have the drive or the competitive intelligence to run a business, but simply because they did not have enough WORKING CAPITAL to sustain their business! I designed Access Granted as a “CLARION CALL” if you will… To equip small business owners, entrepreneurs, and startups in historically marginalized and economically disenfranchised communities with the FINANCIAL EDUCATION, CAPACITY BUILDING TOOLS, and FUNDING RESOURCES they need to grow, scale, and sustain their businesses. Especially in times like this! The fact is, you can have all the motivation and brilliant ideas you want, but without CAPITAL, you CAN NOT run a business successfully. Since our inception, Dunmore Capital Ventures has been able to help several small business owners secure over $100,000 total in funding. We were also blessed to have the #1 bank in the US, JP Morgan Chase, sponsor our first successful conference in Charlotte, NC September of 2022, and it’s only the beginning! As the Founder and CEO of Dunmore Capital Ventures, our vision is to be the PREMIER HUB FOR BUSINESS FUNDING! Our goal is to position undercapitalized business owners for greater economic mobility and inclusion by “CONNECTING FOUNDERS with FUNDERS”, and removing the most obvious barrier that restrict our access to capital. BUT WE CAN’T DO IT ALONE! A movement of this magnitude is rarely accomplished in isolation. We need ALL HANDS ON DECK. TODAY IS THANKSGIVING DAY, AND IT'S ALSO MY 44TH BIRTHDAY! My GREATEST WISH this year is to reward 100 small business owners A CHECK for $10,000 at our Access Granted Conferences! Here is our conference schedule for 2024: Charlotte, NC - February Dallas, TX - April Houston, TX - June Brooklyn, NY - July Atlanta, GA - August Tuskegee University - November HERE’S HOW YOU CAN HELP! Please consider making a donation to help us reach our goal of $100K by February 1, 2024. Your donation will help considerably with up front cost like marketing, venue, and helping us start our own fund to support small businesses! Thank you in advance for your support! It's Friday, let's go with FiredUpFridays! Here are the three things I'm heated over: 1. March Madness has arrived! On the women's side, my Utes were taken down by a Gonzaga team that couldn't be stopped from the 3-point line. They went 54.5% from downtown. We went 26.5%. That's interesting because WE, the Utah Utes, are usually the team that can't be stopped from beyond the arc. This reminds me, we can't always be one-dimensional. When life, work, or daily challenges arise, are we well-equipped to deviate from the original "game plan" and pivot to something more productive for the moment? A respectful single flame for healthy and elite competition 🔥! 2. I'm officially a Utah Royals season-ticket holder. Welcome back to Utah, Royals! While we lost the home-opener to the Chicago Red Stars, we won in spirit and support. The game was sold out, and so were the fans to the team, players, game, and community. Ohhh, AND, we did pick up our first W at home (and for the season) in our second game against the North Carolina Courage. Blazing return to Royalty 🔥🔥! 3. This week I was able to attend a workshop that brought together many different nursing departments and leaders from across University of Utah Hospitals and Clinics system. It's amazing what happens when you sit in the same room with other peers who are passionate, inspired, intelligent, creative, and supportive! It reminds me, why do we have to wait for an event to take place for magic to spark and change to happen? Why aren't we spending regular, daily time getting in front of one another...REALLY hearing what others are doing and accomplishing...AUTHENTICALLY celebrating wins...TRULY exploring big and small ideas over coffee...RESPECTFULLY challenging each other's assumptions...INTENTIONALLY encouraging steps and plights? We don't have to schedule when we will be exceptional colleagues and friends. Instead, we can live exceptionally by consistently showing up more fully and presently for our peers in all that we do. Combusting with simplicity 🔥🔥🔥!

Teach me, Correct me... ? Well, within limits, can't go 'off the ranch" Come & whisper in my ear, give us dirty laundry... My Dad may be the last surviving of original engineers that got KET up and running, fighting cancer 6yrs likely from Gyphosate exposures spraying it on the tower guy wires, to save money & other EMF field exposures in the UHF 600mhz band: was he part of the 50th Anniversary celebration ? Nope, & the cannibalistic media is all too 🤔 eager to eat their own as all the business models are collapsed by the phone mafia/syndicates, & were my warnings heeded along with others from the 1990s? Hardly, you might check out #23-5337 in the 6th Circ Ct of Appeals for part of "my" side which: WKYT, defunct Morehead Snews and ASHland's Daily Flemdependent & others did not dare get: 11pages with references, if it is said not to be filed, there's copiessss. Enjoy the recognition from the 4th Estate that's more of a 5th column ... while it lasts.
Significance over success. It takes a while to realize that’s what your heart truly desires. I’m thankful for open doors and closed ones, and for people who invested their time to lift me, teach me, correct me and love me. Tonight is an important night. As a first-generation college student the Hill (colloquial reference to Western KY Univ) was literal and figurative. But the with the unwavering support of my parents who worked so hard for my brighter future, God’s amazing grace and favor, the best community of college friends, professors, co-workers and mentors, I made it. It’s been a big year for me with honors and recognitions. I was reminded from a dear friend who gave me a birthday card the other week, that between now and this time next year, more amazing things will happen. I just have to believe. Another friend texted me a prophetic word about receiving what I’m silent about. You can make fun if you want, but I believe those are angels sending a message to me that at 51 my life is just getting started. What God started, He will finish. I’m pressing on! For those of you who think it’s too late for you… let me speak resurrected dreams into your spirit. It’s not too late. Believe. Hope. Trust. This is more than I usually share, more personal than I usually reveal. Don’t worry, I won’t make a habit out of it. 🙂 Tonight, surrounded by a community of long-time friends, I’ll proudly be inducted into WKU’s Hall of Distinguished Alumni. To God Be The Glory for all He has done for me! I’m already a puddle of tears reading this piece done about me below. If I get through tonight without my mascara running down my face, it’ll be a miracle. I know hearing what Dana Divine, Sherry Murphy and Bob Babbage said in the tribute video will turn on the waterworks for sure. I’m told there will be tissues at the table. 🙂 https://lnkd.in/gUrURw6Q

Embrace Big Tasks: How We Sparked a Downtown Transformation 🌟 Don't Shy Away from the Extraordinary 🌟 A decade ago, Roger and I moved to Paulding, Ohio. When I started at the Chamber, my first task was to raise the money and get the square decorated. What commenced as a modest initiative to illuminate our courthouse square grew into a spectacular downtown celebration—a journey that exemplifies the power of embarking on seemingly impossible tasks. We started with a simple vision: to light up the town. With humble beginnings—just a few lights on poles—we laid the foundation for something remarkable. Persistence was key; in three years, our efforts bloomed into a Christmas spectacle featuring a towering tree, a dazzling parade, and a welcoming Santa house. This change didn't solely rely on our endeavors; it was fueled by unwavering support from our local community, both in time and resources. From support from businesses to 4H kids hanging lights, the whole village turned up to make it happen. What's truly heartening is witnessing the ongoing growth of this event. The Village of Paulding now sparkles with life each holiday season. The ongoing enhancements and additions since my involvement speak volumes about the essence of such initiatives—growth, evolution, and continuous improvement. Here are some pointers from my experience: 🌟 Start Small, Think Big: Begin with manageable, achievable goals that lay the groundwork for something larger. 🌟 Build a Dream Team: Rally like-minded individuals who share your passion and watch your initial vision expand far beyond your imagination. 🌟 Celebrate Growth: Even after you move on, revel in the progress of your initiatives. Embrace change and evolution as signs of success. So, my advice to you? Don't fear initiating what might seem insurmountable. Take that first step—be it a small stride or a giant leap. Embrace the challenge, gather your tribe, and revel in the transformation you can bring about. Remember, the most incredible journeys often begin with a single spark of inspiration. Dare to ignite that spark! #TransformationalLeadership #CommunityInitiative #EmbraceTheChallenge #GrowthMindset #InspirationInProgress

Everyone wants to belong to something larger than themselves. Companies that foster a strong sense of community are destined to succeed. That's a big part of what #companyculture is all about, for any business. Elderly Instruments of Lansing, Michigan is showing us all how belonging and community can help build a strong, durable business. The company has created a shared sense of purpose and belonging among the people who work there, making them an integral part of its success. Elderly is also a prime example of how important local engagement can be. #organizationalculture #belonging #culturechange #changemanagement
Community is truly an unstoppable force, and key to lasting local engagement. Organizations that make participation the centerpiece of community understand this principle. Many, many congratulations to Michigan's own Elderly Instruments in Lansing, Michigan on receiving America's Top Small Business award for 2023 from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. CEO and Co-owner, Lillian Werbin rocks, period! There's a great article and interview with Lillian in the May / June 2024 edition of the Small Business Association of Michigan's FOCUS magazine. I remember passing Elderly Instruments's shop back when I was a grad student at Michigan State University over 15 years ago. Friends had talked about Elderly, and owner/co-founder, Stan Werbin. But I had no idea what a strong spirit of community Elderly was building. It reminds us all, I think, to pay attention to what's going on around us when searching for examples of what success truly means, in business and in life. #lansingmi #sbam #smallbusiness #music #community #culture
