Everyone was feeling the pressure, but instead of panicking, my team collaborated late into the night, troubleshooting, and brainstormed solutions. What struck me most was the sense of unity and determination — no one was in it alone. It was a true team effort, and in the end, we not only met our deadline but exceeded expectations. As we head into 2025, I’m more grateful than ever for the amazing colleagues and partners I get to work with. This year, and every year, I’ve learned that success is built on collaboration, and there’s nothing we can’t achieve when we work together. It’s totally understandable—this time of year can feel like a whirlwind! But while we count down to our well-earned breaks, let’s take a moment to reflect on those who will be working through Christmas. 💙 To those keeping things running over the holidays, from emergency services to hospitality, transport, and retail—you’re the true heroes of the season. Your dedication ensures the rest of us can enjoy the holidays, and we are so grateful. 🍷 To those working abroad this Christmas, away from family and friends, you are incredible. Your sacrifices don’t go unnoticed, and you’re a vital part of keeping the world connected and moving forward. ✈️ Our business sector thrives because of amazing individuals like you, and your example reminds us why we should continue to work hard in this final stretch. Happy Canadian Thanksgiving! It is wonderful to have the opportunity to have a long weekend and to spend it in a way that fills my heart. Enjoying time with family, a slower pace, and some extra time outside. ❤️ However, the work week ahead is a short one—only 4 days. I don't know about you but by the end of a short week, it can feel like it was a really long week. It's a long week because I try to cram 5 days worth of work and activities into 4 days. Short work weeks can be difficult to balance. Employers don't often consider them when deadlines are set, and employees rarely look far enough ahead to notice they have one less day to complete the expected work. The thing is that most of our holidays happen on the same day every year. Making note of this personally and professionally is essential to not getting overwhelmed. TIP: I have started a new habit. At the start of each quarter, I update my calendar for each statutory holiday. If the holiday is on Monday (like it is with Thanksgiving), I add an event to my calendar and start it on Friday afternoon and have it end on Monday night. I colour code the event and have it set as out of office. While this is a new habit for me, so far, I have found it effective, as the larger block of colour draws my attention to the short week; making it easier for the to plan around and not forget, and let it creep up on me. #HappyThanksgiving #grateful #thanksgiving #family

Are you ready to start the new year right with your team?   At the close of 2024, I recorded my first LinkedIn live with one of my old clients Angela McArthur and it was fabulous.   The link to the LinkedIn live is in the first comment.   One of the big takeaways from this live is the importance of bringing your team together in the new year.   Traditionally, the end of the year is when we get together for holiday events, strategic planning, or wrapping up the year. Yet, it's often the time when we have the least focus as we are juggling so many plates as we try to close out work tasks as well as finalize holiday plans and vacations with the family. It can be chaotic.   So bringing people together in a thoughtful way at the beginning of 2025, when everyone is refreshed and more focused on the new year, is an amazing time to discuss big priorities and successful collaborations.   It does not need to be a long meeting. 45 minutes is enough, according to Angela. But she does highly recommend breaking bread together.   My recommendation to you this week is to take intentional time with your team, and then go out to lunch together and welcome in a successful year ahead.

Back in the office today, after a week away in St.Ives, which can only mean one thing… Holiday number two is officially over and so are my trips to sunnier climates! (for this year anyway) 😅 It’s always a strange one when the summer holidays end as you only really have two or three months of solid work before the gin comes out and the Christmas festivities begin. It’s important to use this time to reflect and set yourself up for success going into 2025. Here are three things I’ll be getting in check, before the end of the year, now I’m back from the last of my summer hols: 🌞 Current Processes & Plan For The Year Ahead It can be easy to return from your holiday and slip into the same thing as before your break. By taking a moment to assess current processes and ways of working, you can make any necessary improvements to ensure you are moving forward and not staying stagnant in your day-to-day. 🌞 Client Meetings & Catch-Ups It won’t just be you that’s taken time away from work, the clients we work with would have done too. Throughout this period, there is likely to have been changes within their business whether this be with new hires or their business goals. Use this time to realign and set targets so you can both achieve what you need to achieve. 🌞 Goals At the start of the year we all set goals but January was nine months ago and a lot would have changed by now with things being achieved and personal/business goals shifting. Now is a great time to review them, set new milestones or keep old milestones at the top of mind to have the best chance of hitting them before 2025. — By focusing on these areas, you'll be able to close out the working year strong and be in the position to book next years holiday too 😉 For me, I’m thinking it’ll be two week vacay to Italy! #recruitment #recruiting #customersuccess

It’s been a whirlwind year, but think about how you can bring a little festivity into the office. It doesn’t have to be a big whole thing because that can be a little much, right? But something to show the team you appreciate them and the hard work that they’ve put in over the last year would be a great way to round out the year. And do the same for clients!
