Following up from last week's post, here are a few more examples of what can be achieved with Scaniverse using a regular smart phone: Slide 1: By using a lower processing resolution ('Area' rather than 'Detail' in Scaniverse), I was able to make a larger scan of the same outcrop. This one is 25 m long (east is left, west is right) and 5 m high Slide 2: Detail of the larger scan showing a set of crossbeds dipping in the opposite direction to the rest if the outcrop. While the prevailing wind direction is from the sea (beds dipping east/left), at certain episodes this is reversed. I'm not sure how much time that represents so would love to hear from any experts out there. Location: recent dune crossing in Noordwijk (NL). Slide 3: 2 x 3 m scan of wave ripples on Noordwijk beach to show what can be achieved with Scaniverse in 'Medium Object' mode. The rather crude in-app measuring device tells me the ripples are about 3 cm high. I have not confirmed this but will take some measurements next time round Slide 4: An antropogene sedimentary structure scanned in 'Small Object' mode in Scaniverse. Base of scan has a 90 cm diameter Links to scans in the comments
