The Timbers Company Winter Park team and their families enjoyed a summer outing at the Kennedy Space Center. What a pleasure it was to explore our nation's storied history of astronomic innovation, highlighted by a captivating presentation by veteran astronaut, Dr. Don Thomas. The interesting and personal stories shared by Dr. Thomas provided a unique perspective into his journey of becoming an astronaut to the powerful effects of teamwork in prepping for and executing a successful launch mission and safe return to Earth. As an organization, we embrace and cultivate teamwork, one of our core values. The day was filled with fun, education, and served as a great reminder of what working together towards a common vision and goal can accomplish.

🚀 Celebrating a Trailblazer: Sally Ride 🚀 “But when I wasn't working, I was usually at a window looking down at Earth.” - Sally Ride On this day, June 18th, we honor the legacy of Sally Ride, the first American woman who soared into the stars aboard the Space Shuttle Challenger in 1983. Her journey into space was not just a personal triumph but a milestone for women in science and space exploration. As a mission specialist on STS-7, Sally Ride broke barriers and expanded horizons, proving that the sky is not the limit for the dreams and capabilities of women. Her contributions to the deployment of satellites and her expertise with the shuttle’s robotic arm were pivotal to the mission’s success1. Sally Ride’s spirit of discovery lives on in every girl who looks up at the night sky and sees a universe of possibilities. Today, we remember her not only as an astronaut but as an educator, a role model, and an advocate for science education. Let’s continue to reach for new heights and inspire the next generation to pursue their passions with courage and curiosity, just as Sally did. 🌍 #2Space4Earth NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration #SallyRide #WomenInSpace #OnThisDay #S4H #Space4Humanity #spaceforhumanity #2Space4Earth #tospaceforearth #OverviewEffect #theovervieweffect #HumanSpaceflight #SpaceIsForEveryone

Recently I have been researching corporate culture. It's important to set the tone right at the beginning. I came across NASA's "Mission & Values" page and screeched to a halt. What a great template. Some of it I will use as inspiration and some not, but the format, tone, and feeling will be my template. What do you think? #culture Mission and Values Mission: NASA explores the unknown in air and space, innovates for the benefit of humanity, and inspires the world through discovery. Core Values: We share a set of core values—safety, integrity, teamwork, excellence, and inclusion—and they are evident in all that we do.

The black women of NASA, every one of them, are pioneers I desire to hear more from. What were their lessons learned? What mistakes were the most painful mistakes and what can we do to avoid them? Who inspired them? What did they do to rise above the criticisms, judgments, and roadblocks certain personalities tried to create to limit them? To know how to get to where we want to go we have to know what we do not like. Model-based Problem Solving involves knowing what we do not like to find the pathway toward where we want to be. https://lnkd.in/gNjKxpKm

🎧🚀 Continuing our Summer Listening on "Trendsetters", #9 brings space ethicist Jacques Arnould . As an ethicist analyzing European space programs, Jacques Arnould confronts this mystery - What profound existential questions drive humanity's unrelenting urge to explore space? He argues we must move beyond nationalistic and commercial motivations to justify the costs and risks of space ambition. Instead, Arnould calls for elevating space to answer humanity's timeless search for meaning - why are we here and what is our place in the cosmos? This thoughtful philosopher's space ethics provocations offer a valuable lens for examining our mission as spacefarers. https://lnkd.in/gzVxdnZp 🛰️ #Space #ethics #spacecaferadio #spacecafepodcast #summerlistening Markus Mooslechner Emma Gatti Rika (Sagarika) Valluri Kofoworola Joshua Faleti European Space Agency - ESA German Aerospace Center (DLR) Norwegian Space Agency NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration Kevin O'Connell Torsten Kriening Centre National d'Études Spatiales

As we celebrate #WorldSpaceWeek, I'd like to highlight a mission that has captivated me: SpaceX's Dragon Demo-2. 🐉 Dragon Demo-2: A Pioneering Journey On May 30, 2020, SpaceX made history with the first commercial spacecraft to carry NASA astronauts to the International Space Station. Astronauts Bob Behnken and Doug Hurley piloted the mission, marking America's return to human spaceflight from U.S. soil after nearly a decade. 👨🚀 Significance for the Industry The Demo-2 mission opened new possibilities for commercial space travel and public-private partnerships. This aligns with my role at Engage Partners, where we strive to match specialized talent with transformative projects. 💡 Diverse Teams Make History This World Space Week focuses on "Women in Space," but it's a reminder that achieving milestones like Demo-2 requires diverse and skilled teams. How are you celebrating #WorldSpaceWeek? #WorldSpaceWeek #SpaceX #DragonDemo2 #Technology #Innovation

As we navigate a world where 65% of today's primary school children will work in roles that don't yet exist, nurturing creativity is essential for envisioning the future of scientific breakthroughs and global solutions. This #ThrowbackThursday, we revisit an inspiring moment from World Space Week on October 9th 2023, at London’s iconic Piccadilly Circus, where the imagination of our youngest generation took centre stage. NASA astronauts Nicole Stott, Susan Still Kilrain, European Space Agency - ESA Astronaut Tim Peake, and science communicator Brian Cox, in collaboration with Harwell Campus and supported by Piccadilly Lights, unveiled a breathtaking art mosaic. This mosaic, composed of hundreds of artworks from the "Rise Together" competition, showcased the boundless creativity of children and their visions of space, sparking a global conversation on the importance of imagination in shaping our future. The initiative, inspired by a NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration study revealing a dramatic decline in creativity as children grow older, underlines the critical role of imagination in addressing planetary challenges and fostering innovation. The "Rise Together" campaign emphasises our collective responsibility to inspire and empower the next generation, ensuring they have the tools to dream big and contribute to the future of space exploration and beyond. #CreativityInSpace #FutureInnovators #WorldSpaceWeek #astronauts #futuregeneration Christina Korp Space For Art Foundation, Inc.
