🚀 Reflecting on my First Semester as an #InternationalStudent 🌏✨ As I wrap up my inaugural semester for #MEM, I'm compelled to share the incredible journey I've had as an #InternationalStudent in the US. 🎓 The land of opportunities has proven to be a dynamic environment, emphasizing the importance of continual learning and adaptability. 💼 The standout moments of this semester revolve around the practical application of concepts, particularly in #CorporateFinance and #Accounting, where I had the privilege to collaborate with real-world startup companies. Financial modeling, regression analysis, and forecasting demands became not just academic exercises but exciting challenges. Working alongside my talented team members, Henry Pérez De Jesús and Melody Liao, transformed assignments into collaborative mini-projects, leveraging our diverse skill sets. 📈 A highlight was our final Accounting Project, advising the Board of Directors of a publicly traded company on performance improvement strategies. Coming from an Engineering background, presenting accounting insights to a distinguished audience pushed me out of my comfort zone. It not only boosted my confidence but also illustrated the practical application of terminology in a professional setting. 💻 Analyzing projects, conducting sensitivity analyses, competitor assessments, determining Beta values, and calculating Implied Share Prices added layers of complexity. While challenging, these tasks provided a glimpse into the intricacies of real-world projects. The satisfaction of balancing an Excel sheet reinforced the invaluable lessons learned. 🏢 I have been fortunate to work at Office of Professional Programs (OPP) at #CWRU where I learnt much needed and important soft skills from Chris Littman, Mary K., Churyl Croone. This has helped me broaden my perspective and hone my problem-solving abilities. 🙏 Gratitude extends to my peers, cohort members, mentors, and the exceptional faculty at #Weatherhead. Their guidance not only cultivated professional skills but also imparted crucial insights into navigating challenges in the workplace. From moderating speakers to drafting professional emails, this holistic approach to education prepares us for the demands of a professional setting. 🌷 As I eagerly anticipate the Spring Semester, I'm excited about the opportunities awaiting me. Here's to continuous growth, learning, and embracing the challenges that lie ahead! 🌱✨ Happy Holidays everyone!! ❄️🎄 #LearningJourney #CareerDevelopment #FutureLeadership #Weatherhead #MEM #CWRU

Higher education (HE) now become human centric at the center. Insightful report from EY Digital Technology and Future Market demands are breaking the barrier of its rigid IT systems and inflexible governance models. In the Past Due to Government & Society culture Students were expected to fit in — and be grateful for the chance to do so. However, the digital transformation ahead of institutions will require a new way of thinking — one that is designed around the needs of the people they are intended to serve. As digital technology seemed set to bring major disruption, the HE sector was warned “an avalanche is coming,” referring to sweeping transformations that would need to occur to respond to the disruption caused by the online revolution. In reality, growing niche segments of HE — including postgraduate and lifelong learning — have adopted radically new models, from pure online delivery to stackable micro credentials to coding bootcamps. But, until recently, in traditional HE, the pace of change has been glacial. A few innovators have transformed at pace, especially in Australia and the US, looking to expand their reach and scale by leveraging digital delivery models. But the majority got away with making their existing models work slightly better, with piecemeal investments in new practices and technology. Why hasn’t the digital transformation avalanche arrived? Jack Mills, who focuses on industry strategies at CAEL, recently presented on the Skills-based Education: The Promise, the Reality, and the Future panel at The Future of Learning at Work Summit. The summit was hosted by the Sands Institute for Lifelong Learning at the University of Virginia Darden School of Business. Jack focused on adult learners and workers and encouraged recognition of both skills and credentials. He pointed out that a key question is which skills and credentials increase earnings, noting that doing so demonstrates that they are valued both by employers and individuals. Drawing on CAEL's industry partnerships in energy/utilities, telecom, and banking, Jack highlighted the importance of employers' guidance in identifying high-value skills and credentials. He also observed that Credit for Prior Learning provides a widely-used way to provide academic credit for skills and credentials earned through experiences that don't provide them and that CAEL's Credit Predictor Pro makes Credit for Prior Learning much easier for colleges and adult learners. Crediting lessons from Full Circle Innovation's work with large companies and colleges (special thanks to Full Circle Innovation's Todd McLees), Jack flagged two things as crucial: aligning AI with organizational goals and metrics and building resilience among employees who may experience AI as a loss of their expertise or experience AI-related changes as exhausting. Leaders from diverse sectors came together to explore apprenticeship, alternative pathways to management, skills-based education, and AI's impact on lifelong learning. From programs to policy, leaders from business, academia, nonprofits, and private equity discussed their perspectives on AI's influence on employment, emphasizing the need for adaptive learning pathways. Jack thanked UPCEA's Amy Claire Heitzman, Ph.D. and The Burning Glass Institute's Carlo Salerno and also Anne Trumbore, Chief Digital Learning Officer at the Sands Institute, who convened the panel. He applauded the Darden School Executive Education and Lifelong Learning team for the excellent conference, bringing together a great group of participants, and arranging things so everyone could enjoy the eclipse! The event emphasized the urgency for lifelong learning providers to innovate and bridge talent gaps in this rapidly evolving landscape. Learn more about how CAEL is helping to bridge these gaps at: https://hubs.li/Q02tLJF30 #AI #FutureOfWork #LifelongLearning #Innovation
