Agility = Flexibility?🤔 I was asked last week during a training session for one of my customers about the difference between agility and flexibility. 🚀 No, agility is not a synonym for flexibility. ❌ I know where the confusion comes from: 🔻 The word agile has been used in common language as a synonym for agility. 🔻 Agile means dynamic, iterative and adaptive - so it appears to be like flexible. 🔻 Indeed, agile frameworks have some flexible parts in them, BUT… Actually, agile frameworks are the opposite of pure flexibility and chaos. ⚠️ 🔺 They give you a framework and the idea is to follow it. 🔺 They include a lot of time-boxed activities. 🔺 They also include a strong structure of roles. 🔺 They provide you with methods and good questions you should answer step by step So next time someone says "We are working agile," ask them, what do you mean by agile? 🤔 😎 How do you or others use the word agile ? 💬 #Agile #Agility #Flexibility #ProjectManagement #WorkCulture #AgileFrameworks #Leadership #Workplace #Productivity

I always wondered about the word "Agile" and recently completed my certification in Agile Methodologies! 🎓 This certification highlights that individual preferences might not always align with team efficiency. Key takeaways include: - Radical Challenge: Breaking down silos and fostering collaboration. It’s a shift from traditional waterfall structures, but I see significant value in Agile. - Horizontal Communication: Promoting cross-team cooperation and embracing uncertainty. - Common Goal: Aligning efforts towards a unified objective for big-picture success. A standout example was Planning Poker, using the Fibonacci series (1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13, 21) with playing cards to reach consensus on sprint effort among Agile stakeholders. #Agile #Certification #Teamwork #ContinuousImprovement #AgileMethodologies #ProjectManagement #ScrumMaster #SoftwareDevelopment #Efficiency #agileprojectmanagement https://lnkd.in/drr8EUDZ

The Reality of many Teams that “work in agile“. Quite often, teams go through a (usually exhaustive and full of coaches) transformation process, to work in agile, because we all know, agile makes teams more efficient and faster in Time to Market. Some time later; Agile seems not to pay off; Time to market has not been reduced, there is no sign of being more efficient. When scratching a bit the surface, what usually can be seen is that the teams have adopted the tools and the ceremonies, but the mentality and the way challenges are approached and new projects tackled are the same. Being Agile goes beyond the tools and the ceremonies; they help, but they are not the goal. Understanding this, is, in my opinion, the first step into the real change into Agility. #agile #agility
