Overthinking gone crazy, thought it would be a whole different thing, but it wasn't! 😄 🤔Ever wondered how #websites create unique web addresses (the subdomain link technique that sites like #Wix use) for their users? I sure did! The same #curiosity led me to a time pass #project! 💡 #Introducing: Card Generator! Users can sign up and claim their piece of address on the #internet. The links are unique to users and can be used by anyone on the internet to access the card. #CheckItOut yourself @ card.midhunnair.dev 🌐 Now to the #question: how did I do that? There's no rocket science involved! I've been using #Cloudflare for quite some time, and all I needed to do was add a #DNS record #dynamically (on user signup). A quick #Google search gave me the answer. It was just #APIs! The DNS service providers like Cloudflare do provide APIs to perform #CRUD operations on the DNS records! That's it, and my project was #completed! 🚀 Note: I've used #Vercel for deploying my project. So, I also needed to add the domain to the Vercel project along with Cloudflare for this whole thing to work. "2. CDK Is Not IaC, It’s a CFN Hack" bold statement. https://lnkd.in/dZ7n5W2B Half of the blog bashes CFN and CDK. I know its not perfect, nothing is. But it is because SST has been built on top of this "broken foundation" and then tried to offer something that is "better".. Targeting a different audience than CDK and CFN have, making it "easier" for users to get started but then they still fall into the same pitfalls and then wonder why its happening.. 🫣 "The core problem is that CDK is leaking an implementation detail from CloudFormation. A sign that the system is poorly designed." No, the core problem is that SST is trying to force CDK/CFN into doing it a "better way" and expecting a different outcome. Poor design? Really glad I don't have a CDK mix with SST deployed in production as V3 won't be able to support CDK components in SST V3, especially true for the higher-order constructs.
