I am very happy to announce that on the 18th August I’ll be presenting on this event. My first ever presentation internationally and I’m both exited and very nervous. Here is what I will be speaking about: Title: Let Dogs Be Dogs: Embracing Natural Behaviors and the Importance of Rest Description: The presentation explores the significance of allowing dogs to engage in their natural behaviors and the crucial role of rest in their overall wellbeing. Highlighting natural behaviors such as movement, sniffing, digging, chewing, barking, and social interaction, the presentation underscores how these activities are vital for a dog’s mental and physical health. It also delves into the different forms of rest beyond sleep. The aim is to equip dog guardians with knowledge and practical advice to better support their pets’ natural behaviors and rest needs, ultimately promoting happier and healthier lives for their canine companions. Key Learning Objectives: 1. Understand the Importance of Natural Behaviors and how to provide outlets for them. 2. The Role of Rest in Canine Wellbeing 3. Learn strategies to balance activity and rest, and observe individual dog needs to ensure overall wellbeing. Is Your Dog Showing Signs of Discomfort? Take This Quiz to Find Out!As pet owners, we all want our furry friends to live happy and comfortable lives. But sometimes, our dogs can't verbally communicate when something is bothering them. That's why it's essential for us to be vigilant and proactive in detecting signs of discomfort. If you've noticed any changes in your dog's behaviour or physical movements, it could be an indication that they're experiencing discomfort. To help you assess your dog's well-being, I've created a quiz called the "Canine Discomfort Detection Score." Is Your Dog Hiding Their Discomfort? As pet owners, we know how important it is to keep our furry friends happy and healthy. But sometimes, our dogs can't tell us when something is wrong. They may be experiencing discomfort or pain, but their stoic nature makes it difficult for us to detect. That's why I've put together a list of subtle signs that could indicate your dog is not feeling their best. Pay close attention to how your dog reacts to being touched, especially around areas prone to pain. Notice if they limp or show stiffness after resting. Watch out for changes in their grooming behaviour or general temperament. Changes in eating and sleeping patterns, as well as a lack of enthusiasm for regular activities, may also be red flags. Vocalizations like whining or groaning, especially in situations that may cause pain, shouldn't be ignored either. But it's not just physical signs that we should be aware of. Observe how your dog interacts with other dogs and people. Have they become less playful or reluctant to climb stairs or get in and out of the car? Restlessness or discomfort at night and a decrease in their zest for life are also important factors to consider. It's crucial to remember that our dogs rely on us to advocate for their wellbeing. By understanding the subtle signs of discomfort, we can take the necessary steps to address any issues and ensure they live their best lives. If you're curious to learn more about your dog's well-being and want to assess their discomfort detection score, I invite you to take the Canine Discomfort Detection Score quiz. Click here to uncover the hidden clues https://lnkd.in/eiWPdNui Remember, our dogs may not be able to speak up, but they rely on us to listen and take action. Let's make sure they're as comfortable and happy as possible!

PAWD DRINKS are proud to partner with My Anxious Dog, founded by the wonderful Sarah Jones, who is on a mission to raise anxiety and space awareness for anxious and reactive dogs through premium yellow space awareness products including harnesses, leads and coats. PAWD DRINKS' Calming product, designed to ease anxiety and promote relaxation, perfectly complements the My Anxious Dog mission, providing a holistic approach to managing dog anxiety by combining visible cues with effective calming solutions. Through our partnership we aim to enhance the overall well-being of anxious dogs, making life less stressful for them and their humans. A dog might be wearing yellow for several reasons. They could be reactive, fearful, elderly, or recovering from an accident, illness, or operation. The last thing they need is to be approached or jumped on by other dogs who want to play. By raising awareness for #DogsInYellow, you can educate pet parents and improve the lives of anxious dogs. 💛

Have you adopted a dog? Would you adopt a dog? In my experience, few things are as rewarding and heartwarming as adopting a dog. More often than not, it's the beginning of a beautiful healing and bonding process for both, the dog and the human. But it's not always easy. You often don't know what a dog has been through when you choose to offer them a new home. Many rescue dogs struggle with anxiety, which can show up in a variety of behaviors you as their human might not know how to deal with effectively, especially considering the amount of unhelpful advice you're bombarded with 🤪 I decided to host this virtual conference to support people who open their hearts and homes to rescue dogs, as well as to encourage those who are considering adopting a dog but worry about how to handle any trauma and anxiety-related issues that may come up. I invited 15 experts with a focus on holistic and connection-based approaches to training, nutrition, health & well-being - approaches based on respect and kindness for both, humans and canines. If you love dogs, come and join us. If you have dog lovers in your life, please share 🙏🐾 #soultouchedbydogs #dogsarefamily #virtualsummit

I help dogs be happy alone 🐶💙 | Separation Anxiety Behaviour Specialist | Fun, Ethical, Science-Based Methods | Dog on Dog Aggression, Dog on Human Aggression, Resource Guarding
Hyper-attachment in dogs: There's Frustration: "Will this ever get better?" There's Isolation: "I can't go anywhere or do anything without planning." There's Guilt: "Am I somehow causing this?" There's Exhaustion: "I love my dog, but I need some space." As a dog trainer, I've seen the toll hyper-attachment takes on both dogs and their owners. It's not just about a clingy pup - it's about the stress, anxiety, and loss of freedom that comes with it. A velcro dog can't bear to be in a different room, follows you to the bathroom, and has a meltdown when you leave the house. The constant neediness is exhausting. You feel trapped, guilty, and overwhelmed. Your social life suffers, work becomes challenging, and relationships strain under the pressure. I've heard from countless owners: "I haven't had a moment to myself in months." "I'm afraid to leave my dog alone, even for a short time." "I feel like a bad owner because I sometimes resent my dog's neediness." But there's hope. I specialise in attachment issues, I can help by: 🪄Assessing your dog's specific attachment behaviour 🪄Creating a tailored plan to build your dog's confidence and independence 🪄Teaching you techniques to manage and reduce clingy behaviours 🪄Guiding you through gradual separation exercises 🪄Helping you establish healthy boundaries without guilt Remember, seeking help isn't giving up - it's taking a positive step for both you and your dog's well-being. If hyper-attachment is affecting your quality of life, let's talk. Together, we can work towards a balanced relationship where both you and your dog feel secure, loved, and independent. 07493 387 733 | kathy@smartypawsdogtraining.co.uk | DM Distance is no barrier to behaviour modification!
