Family-Jugglers and Family-First teams.
As we hit the middle of winter and the year, I couldn't help but be reminded consistently in recent times just how hard it is for parents to juggle home lives and work.
Despite household sickness, family health issues, financial strain, school holidays and complete time pressure, our teammates demonstrate remarkable resilience.
What may appear to the public as a well-oiled machine is a testament to the strength and determination of our team members who are juggling their home and work lives.
Before #dadlife, I admit I did not understand what my team members went through at home daily. I ignorantly downplayed the challenges, saying I understood, but you don't know what you don't know until you know.
Even now, I know the daily challenges we face, yet we don't have many other challenges our friends and colleagues have.
Today, I want to thank the family jugglers past and present and, importantly, the family-supportive workplaces. Work will only work long term if firms allow families to put family first.
Let's support our teammates when they are sick, our leaders when they are stressed, or our business partners when they are short on time.
We are all humans trying our best in work-life, with yet-to-be-determined challenges of family life around the corner.
