If you want to engage people to vote during election season, you gotta meet them where they are At this time of year as we get close to elections, I get approached by clients who need support with voter persuasion, engagement, and turnout. They usually have an idea of voters they need to reach, sometimes they have some polling they've done, but with everything else going on they haven't had the time to think of all the creative ways to engage the voters they want to reach. That's where I come in, for example, if a client wants to reach Black voters I ask a series of questions help me help the client reach the voters where they are like: Do they want to reach Black voters under 50 or over 50? Do they want to reach Black voters only in rural areas, urban areas or suburban areas? Or all three and (yes Black voters are in the suburbs) Where do these voters spend their time? What's the issues motivating these voters? These questions (and many more) help me narrow down a universe of who these voters are, where they live, what they care about, and helps me craft messages for the client that could resonate with these voters they want to reach across many avenues of political communication: TV, streaming, social media, mail, texts, canvassing and phone scripts etc You never know what's going to engage voter in their busy lives, so you have to be prepared to reach them where they are at now #2024elections #politics #voteready _________ If you are an progressive organization/campaign that is looking to identify engage turnout voters, especially voters in the Rising American Electorate (voters of color, Gen Z/Millennials, women) for the 2024 elections and beyond. Earlier this week, I wrote on here why it's bad for democracy to not run inclusive voter outreach efforts. Here are some ways to implement an effective inclusive voter engagement campaign. I recorded this after I wrapped up a media hit with MSNBC discussing the 2024 elections and the youth vote a few weeks ago. Today, as Massachusetts holds its primary elections, the role of the AAPI community at the ballot box cannot be overstated. Recent data shows that AAPI voters are among the fastest-growing electoral groups in the U.S., having seen remarkable increases in voter turnout—a jump from 49.3% in 2014 to 59.5% in 2020, the second-highest increase among all racial and ethnic groups. This surge in civic participation highlights the growing impact and significance of our voices in shaping the future. Despite these gains, challenges remain. Many AAPI voters still face language barriers and socio-economic challenges that can hinder full electoral participation.
