New Post: The Deals: Sony Masterworks Buys Majority Stake in Black Sky; Secretly to Distribute John Prine’s Oh Boy Records - https://lnkd.in/dw8gghSY - Sony Music Masterworks acquired a majority stake in Black Sky Creative, a company that produces immersive entertainment, experiential retail and live experiences for IP and brands. Black Sky will become part of Masterworks’ live division and focus on creating scalable experiential properties across music, film/TV, gaming and more. Black Sky founder Jeff Delson will continue leading the company’s day-to-day operations, while his partners Lee Rosen and Shannon Ramirez will work to develop new projects for Masterworks in close collaboration with Masterworks president Mark Cavell. Independent label Oh Boy Records inked a worldwide distribution deal with Secretly Distribution. Oh Boy Records was founded in 1981 by singer-songwriter John Prine and continues to be run by the late artist’s family. Oh Boy’s catalog includes albums from Prine, Kelsey Waldon, Swamp Dogg, Alice Randall and Arlo McKinley. The label also announced part of its leadership team, with Baros (a managing partner at Exceleration Music) and Schulman acting as Audio Chateau’s first appointed board members. Elsewhere, Grayson Flatness (formerly of Sounds Good) joins Audio Chateau as an A&R consultant and Kate London has been named head of legal & business affairs, a role she also serves at Audio Up Media. Audio Chateau’s artist roster includes Grupo Linea, Uncle Drank, Randy Savvy of the Compton Cowboys and Maejor Audio Sunshine, described in a press release as a “health and wellness supergroup” that features Audio Up founder Jared Gudstadt along with artists Maejor and Bipolar Sunshine. The Art of Staying Relevant to stay Resilient- On a cold rainy New York day a Broadway show can be the perfect escape from the dreary weather! That is what I realised last weekend when I made a spontaneous decision to catch the Broadway show - MJ: the Musical based on the life of the late Michael Jackson - arguably the greatest entertainer of all time. The show itself has been a huge success winning 4 Tony awards for it’s phenomenal performances and attention to details.However the key theme that struck me was perhaps the importance of staying relevant in an ever changing landscape of the music industry or for that matter any industry. The innovation showcased within the musical production is evident in various aspects of its execution, including: Technological Advancements: Incorporating cutting-edge technology such as immersive stage design and special effects to create a visually stunning and dynamic experience for audiences. Creative Acting and direction: Pushing artistic boundaries through innovative acting skills,choreography, set design, and costume concepts that pay homage to Jackson's iconic style while also infusing contemporary elements to captivate audiences across demographics. Narrative Adaptation: Crafting a compelling narrative structure that goes beyond a traditional biographical portrayal thus engaging audiences on multiple levels. Music Integration and audience engagement: Utilizing innovative audio engineering techniques to breathe new life into his timeless hits that kept the audience thoroughly engaged. The pivotal lesson for sales from the innovation demonstrated in the musical lies in the significance of remaining relevant and responsive to evolving consumer preferences and expectations. In my opinion, sales professionals can maintain a competitive advantage and effectively connect with their target audience by continuing to embrace innovation across product designs, marketing strategies, and customer experiences even when times and preferences change. Objective: Create a stage that captures and amplifies the energy of ITZY, engaging thousands of fans from the moment the lights come up. Our Innovative Solution: Central to our design was a mid-stage rolling set piece, engineered with precision using CAD technology. This innovative feature allowed for fluid transitions and offered a versatile platform for ITZY's dynamic choreography. Complementing this were automated LED screens, which painted a vivid backdrop, adding layers of immersive visuals that captivated every fan in the audience. As ITZY took the stage, the interaction between their electrifying performance and our staging solutions transformed the concert into a spectacular event.
