Co-Founder + Editor No Kill Magazine: Working to fundamentally shift our relationship with our planet.
I recently had the pleasure to talk with Greg Stillman of NFW about their groundbreaking work in developing plastic-free, sustainable materials. In an enlightening conversation, Greg shared insights into NFW's journey, starting with founder Luke Haverhals' vision to leverage natural materials without breaking them down to their basic components. This approach has led to the creation of innovative products like MIRUM, a 100% plastic-free, plant-based leather alternative, and CLARUS, a performance fabric enhancing natural fibers. NFW's focus on sustainability extends beyond material innovation to encompass a holistic view of production and end-of-life considerations, ensuring their products are not only environmentally friendly but also high-performing and desirable. It's inspiring to see how NFW is leading the way in sustainable material science, potentially revolutionizing industries from fashion to automotive. (And discovering brands using MIRUM –beyond prototypes– to make chic plastic-free vegan “leather” bags is a great way to get our No Kill Magazine readers to take notice!) https://lnkd.in/g599Ndkv #circulareconomy #sustainablefashion #materials #materialscience #plantsnotplastic

🔄 The Solution: Transitioning to a Circular Economy It is crucial for the textile and fashion industry to adopt a Circular Economy model, redesigning the production system to minimize waste and sustainably reuse materials. 😃 This transition will not only mitigate negative environmental impacts but also contribute to improving quality of life, promoting more equitable and sustainable development. 👗 At Textil4all, we are committed to this change. In October, we will begin training in textile recycling processes. Stay tuned for more updates! #Sustainability #CircularEconomy #SustainableFashion #EnvironmentalImpact #Textil4all Read more: https://lnkd.in/d_uGmiHq #Sustainability #CircularEconomy #SustainableFashion #EnvironmentalImpact #Textil4alle FINNOVA FOUNDATION Carla Garcia Hernandez Juanma Revuelta Lola Bordás Dolz Envolve Entrepreneurship Educación, Cultura y Solidaridad

In these challenging times, when our industry is currently walking a tightrope between staying in the market and thinking about the future, innovation will play a critical role... Please take a look at my article, recently published by texfash.com ”Fibre Industry in between Innovation, Upcoming Regulations and Competitiveness" It was a great honor for me to write a review of the recent Dornbirn-GFC. Many thanks Richa Bansal and texfash.com for the opportunity.
A first person account by Marina Crnoja-Cosic: A recurring theme at the 63rd Global Fibre Congress at Dornbirn (Dornbirn-GFC)from 11–13 September was recycling and the associated circular economy. It stressed on the urgent need for everyone in the value chain, from machine manufacturers to manufacturing and retail, to find a common denominator—the only way to provide the consumer with products which are sustainable and affordable. At New Power Industry, we’re always on the lookout for innovative steps toward sustainability in manufacturing. Crocs is taking strides to reduce its environmental impact with a commitment to bio-circular materials. They are utilizing industrial byproducts like spent cooking oils and tall oil (a paper milling byproduct), showing the potential for circularity in a traditionally linear production system. However, they face challenges in tracking the exact bio-based content in each product, relying on a "mass balance" system that doesn’t offer full transparency to consumers. While they’re expanding their take-back program to collect used shoes, the process of recycling unusable materials into new products is still a work in progress. At this point, the system leans more toward donation than closed-loop recycling. For the true circular economy advocates like us at New Power Industry, this is a step in the right direction but not quite the revolution we envision. There's a path forward for Crocs—and others—through advanced technologies like plastic pyrolysis. With the right infrastructure, Crocs could turn old shoes into fresh polymers, driving toward a more fully closed-loop system. Circularity isn’t just about reducing waste; it’s about rethinking supply chains, owning the full life cycle of materials, and pushing for real sustainability. Let’s keep the pressure on, and push innovation to the next level. Read the full article here: https://lnkd.in/dTw4Qn3S #CircularEconomy #SustainableFuture #BioCircular #Innovation #NetZero
