We recently organized a meetup in Budapest with most of the EU team 🇭🇺. As a fully-remote company since the start, we make the absolute most of these trips and have an absolute blast enjoying each other's company (it's a good sign we all like each other 😆) Our typical format is one day of focused, intense work tackling the kind of things which are best done in-person. These sessions are filled with debate and discussion, which leads to better longer term decision-making, feedback and goal-setting. That's followed by a weekend of fun things in a new city. We eat new foods, have fun cultural experiences together, or just relax and be tourists together. The secret is it's actually during the weekend when ideas from the work day have had some time to marinate that the best stuff pops out. Working with Nick Misani on the deco of Swan's new headquarters was so fun. We had a tornado of ideas related to our business, our tech, and even inside jokes, and he helped many of them come to life. I especially love the code on our meeting room doors. Swan's meeting rooms are quite typically named after European countries. That alone is not unique — but we took it further! We wanted to give a feeling of our tech culture and give a fun nod to the "localization" that is so important to what makes Swan different. Bear with me while I talk about banking features :) Swan allows companies to offer banking features to their customers, embedded into their own product: accounts with IBANs, cards with their own logo. And it's all localized: A Spanish company wants to offer Spanish accounts, with IBANs that start with "ES", with Spanish T&Cs, following Spanish laws. Every time we launch an office in a new country, we build up localized accounts for that country, with local IBANs. 📍 No, it's not so easy that a developer can just say "Let's add new letters!" 🤡 Swan goes through a long process to get local accounts and local IBANs set up in each country. So far, we already have IBANs starting with DE, ES, FR, NL, and IT is next. My IBAN is: FR76 3000.... haha JK. I'm not giving that to you — fraudsters! So, anyway, When a developer is building banking features into an app, they connect to our API. And there is specific code that allows to create local IBANs. We put that code across our meeting room doors.  The "Italian" room has the code for creating a local Italian IBAN starting with "IT," etc. That's just one of the details we put into the office, but there are many more, all over the place. A Glimpse into our second Noor Vision Team Event in 2024 – Mallorca here we come! As part of our multi-day team event, Day 1 was a perfect blend of learning, collaboration, and cultural exploration. It inspired fresh ideas and strengthened our teamwork. Here’s a quick look back at the highlights: 🍽 Morning: We kicked off with a hearty breakfast, setting the tone for an exciting day ahead. 💡 Mid-morning: Workshops reflected on past events in NL and Hamburg, focusing on lessons learned and how we can keep delivering top-tier results for our clients. Shared insights and collaboration were key! ☕ Late morning: A coffee break gave us time to connect with new colleagues and lay the groundwork for future collaborations. 🔥 Midday: The energy soared when Maiwand Noor presented a groundbreaking product idea, and fresh possibilities began to take shape! 💬 Afternoon: We split into two teams: Team A: Focused on consulting basics—self-organization, communication, and problem-solving, wrapping up with a feedback session. Team B: Took on a hackathon challenge, brainstorming, pitching ideas, and refining them in real-time—innovation in action! 🎯 Early afternoon: A rejuvenating lunch allowed us to relax and recharge. 🚌 Late afternoon: We explored Mallorca by visiting the stunning Mallorca Cathedral and enjoyed a walking tour through the historic city, soaking in its rich culture. 🍷 Evening: We ended the day with a delightful dinner at Mola Restaurant, filled with laughter and great conversations.
