With an #ageingpopulation and increasing pressures for #earlyintervention and day-case surgery, the need for partial knee replacement procedures is growing ever stronger. A new paper from Dr. Jennifer Stoddart (Engineering Lead at OSSTEC) et al. shows that partial knee procedures keep bones healthier and stronger for longer than total knee procedures, by enabling more natural load transfer. Healthier bone improves implant fixation and reduces subsidence, meaning better outcomes for patients. Same group from University of Berne described the rationale for the treatment of FAI, and discussed the technique of joint-preserving surgery in this another historical article.
