Titan Electric has always operated under the “Work Hard, Play Hard” mentality! A recent tradition that we’re excited about is our 3rd Thursdays Bowling Night. Each month, all Titan employees are invited to RSVP and hit the lanes. We spoke with Project Manager, Kyle Miller, who started bowling night: “3rd Thursday has become a standing monthly tradition that many of us look forward to. What started as just a way for the Precon Department to have some fun outside of the office environment, quickly became a catalyst for bonding across all departments within Titan. It’s awesome to get to know coworkers that you normally don’t have the chance to interact with on a day-to-day basis. Sadly, our 3rd Thursday Bowling Event is currently homeless due the sell of Tech City Kirkland property to developers – we are currently searching for a new venue.” We're hopeful that the crew will find a new bowling location soon to continue this competitive, cross-department, fun bonding time!

Companies like Nyobolt and Storedot are really changing the game and perceptions of usage of modern electric cars. Storedot can give you 100 miles in 5 mins, whilst Nyobolt, astonishingly, talk of 100% charge in 6 minutes. Less than the time to pull over and listen to a couple of your favourite pop songs. Once curbside chargers become more prevalent. You'll be able to fully charge your EV when you just "pop to the shops". No hanging around and hogging parking spaces as you leave your vehicle for hours. People need to let go of the mindset of how we currently fuel our cars. Petrol Stations are really single use vendors that stick out like a sore thumb in our towns and countryside. Electricity is everywhere and charging points can be too. That old well worn term "plug n play" comes back into use. An intelligent system that literally just needs be plugged in as it understands your charging preferences and provider. And with around half the cost of the EV being the battery, smaller batteries can be opted for so drastically reducing the purchase price whilst the march for ultimately cheaper batteries continues.

Grateful to Canadian Parking Association for publishing my article on “EV Charging the New Gold Rush” (pg 26 of their “Parker” magazine - link below) which is based on a series of presentations I did in 2023. https://lnkd.in/giRRXV2q While the headline is purposefully attention grabbing, the principal is relatively simple: 1. SFU locates charging infrastructure where it is useable by different stakeholder groups at different times e.g. students & employees during the day, visitors, users of our amenities, and shoppers during evenings & weekends, and residents of nearby apartments at night. 2. SFU has public chargers that are truly public – anyone can use them. 3. By following #1 and #2 we are “flowing electrons” an average of 10.5 hrs per day per charging port – creating a new revenue stream for SFU, but more importantly providing the kind of public charging that various levels of government need to meet their sustainable transportation goals. Working with partners to expand SFU’s experiences to more organizations – hoping to have more on that this summer.

I'm a strange human. So strange that when I see a fantastic positioning on the side of the road, I do a U-turn and circle back to get a picture. Everything about this is fantastic. They know exactly what they are good at, they know exactly who to reach out to in order to see if they are interested, they know what that market cares about, they know what kind of trucks to buy and what's important in their driver pool...and when they have extra space on the trucks, they can carry other things that have nothing to do with RVs, but they don't tell other people about that cheating and it doesn't diffuse their positioning. Bravo, you Elkhart, IN company.
