After the hustle and bustle and excitement of Christmas, it is completely natural for everyone to feel a little down. The darker nights and the cold mornings can have an impact on general morale and motivation so how, as a manager, can you help your team to feel happier and more engaged during this time? Here are 3 of our biggest tips for January at work: 1. Team Shoutouts! Do you shout out to the team when someone has done a great job, completed a project or secured a deal? This is a great way to show appreciation for the people who work for you. Something as small as mentioning them in a team meeting in a positive way can be a great way to put a smile on their face and bring confidence back. 2. Keep it light-hearted. We all know that when the New Year comes round we can go into 'serious mode'. We have so many things to think about, goals to achieve and plans to make but, as a manager, it is important to not let these pressures get to the team too much. Did you know that January is the most popular month for Job changes? So, be open and honest but without making them fear the year ahead. 3. Bring the FUN into the workplace. This can be done in so many ways such as team outings, meetings outside or in a coffee shop, games in the office etc! Just because Christmas is over doesn't mean you can't have fun together 😊 And lastly... look after yourself too! #wellbeingatwork #Januaryblues #January #NewYear #Winternights #Employeeappreciation #funatwork #HRandwellbeing #HRHarrogate #HRforSMEs #HRforSmallBusiness #HRNorthyorkshire #managementsupport #HRmanager

🚀 SIGWATCH's Nine-Day Fortnight Journey as UK companies embrace the Four-Day Week 🎉 Last week, the Guardian published an article on the aftermath of the world's largest trial in the UK of the Four Day Week. Recent research reveals that 89% of the 61 participating organisations have sustained the policy a year later, with a remarkable 51% making it a permanent part of their work culture (See in comments below👇). At SIGWATCH, we've implemented the Nine Day Fortnight at our London office for almost two years. As our Managing Director Charlotte Moore highlighted in her recent post, the decision to adopt a tailored approach reflects SIGWATCH's commitment to ensuring a seamless transition for our team and clients. Recognising the unique dynamics of our organisation, SIGWATCH took a creative approach. Acknowledging that jumping straight into a 4-day week could strain workloads and client contacts, the Nine Day Fortnight emerged as a strategic and industry-specific solution. 🌟 SIGWATCH's success story underscores the adaptability of the four-day week concept to various industries. I believe it's a testament to the organisation's commitment to embracing change while ensuring the well-being of our team and maintaining excellent client service. 🔗 Join the Discussion: How has your organisation innovatively adapted to new work paradigms?

🌟 Nurturing Work Freedom 🌟 👩💼 Employee (E): So, I requested some time off, and you approved it right away. 👨💼 Manager (M): Absolutely! I hired you to get the job done, and I trust you to do just that. 👩💼 E: But, do you want to know why I need the time off? 👨💼 M: Not really. Here, how you work is up to you – in the office, remote, leave early, or even set up in your garage while your car gets fixed. 👩💼 E: So, you're cool with it all? 👨💼 M: Totally. We're all human. No need to apologize for doctor's appointments or leaving early for personal stuff. Work should fit into your life, not the other way around. 👩💼 E: It's refreshing. Most places make you feel guilty for having a life outside of work. 👨💼 M: Not here. I'm not watching the clock. Just get the job done, keep our clients happy, and that's all that matters. 👩💼 E: That's awesome. Feels like a breath of fresh air. 👨💼 M: That's what we aim for – a workplace where you have the freedom to work your way. Results speak louder than hours. 🌟 #WorkplaceFreedom #TrustInTeam #ResultsMatter #FlexibilityAtWork #EmployeeEngagement #billgates #richardbranson #jeffweiner #satyanadella #ariannahuffington #markcuban #simonsinek #tonyrobbins #melindagates #danielgoleman #justintrudeau #garyvaynerchuk #adamgrant #brenebrown #narendramodi 🌟

I broke my Monday morning routine today but apparently, it turned out well! On Monday mornings, I usually would make a point to have breakfast with colleagues simply because I need some social interactions to lift up my mood (𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘬𝘯𝘰𝘸, 𝘔𝘰𝘯𝘥𝘢𝘺 𝘣𝘭𝘶𝘦𝘴, 𝘣𝘭𝘦𝘳𝘨𝘩𝘩𝘩). But this morning, I went for a breakfast alone instead. Then, it instantly reminded me of how great I was at being a lone ranger for the first 5 years of working until I came to PEOPLElogy Group whereby dining out with colleagues becomes a #culture. Before I joined this company, my job was overwhelming that I would prefer to have breakfast alone to give myself some space to "breathe" before I started performing work. After joining #peoplelogy, it's a pretty huge shift for me that social interaction over breakfast becomes my top requirement to start off my day at work. And then today as I chose to have breakfast alone, I remembered how healing it felt—savouring my meals without any heavy topics interrupting in between, observing other people interacting and behaving, and reading news on the Internet to catch up with what's trending. My 30-minute breakfast was definitely worthwhile! Looking at a different perspective, having the courage to dine in alone is honestly a skill to practice #resilience that cultivates independence and confidence, especially when working in a corporate world. It's an art of overcoming the fear of judgement and embracing self-reliance. Sitting at a table for one may seem intimidating amidst bustling crowds, but it speaks volumes about our ability to gracefully handle loneliness. At times, having companionship seems great, but being comfortable in our own company gives us a strong character 😀 (𝘈𝘯𝘥 𝘤𝘢𝘯 𝘸𝘦 𝘫𝘶𝘴𝘵 𝘵𝘢𝘭𝘬 𝘢𝘣𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘩𝘰𝘸 𝘵𝘩𝘰𝘴𝘦 𝘴𝘰𝘧𝘵 𝘣𝘰𝘪𝘭𝘦𝘥 𝘦𝘨𝘨𝘴 𝘤𝘢𝘮𝘦 𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘴𝘰 𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘧𝘦𝘤𝘵𝘭𝘺 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘪𝘵 𝘮𝘢𝘥𝘦 𝘮𝘺 𝘥𝘢𝘺??? In an increasingly fast-paced world, it’s never been more important to look after #1. Focusing on our team and individual well-being helps us to ‘show up’ how we want to others, achieving greater satisfaction from our roles. 🤝 So this past #worldwellbeingweek, we were extra cautious of taking the time to put good practices in place (supported by our expert lunch & learn to recognise and manage early signs of stress) 🧠 , but importantly, we also asked ourselves – are we doing enough? We don’t doubt we can always do more, or shift our focus to where it's needed. It's a conversation we'll always continue to have. And our upcoming away days and exciting account changes are a perfect time to reflect on just this! 🙌 What do you do to support well-being❓
