The Double Ninth Festival (重阳节, Chóngyáng Jié) is a traditional Chinese festival celebrated on the ninth day of the ninth month in the lunar calendar, hence its name. It's a day with deep cultural significance, typically falling in October in the Gregorian calendar. Here are some traditional activities in this day: 1) Climbing Mountains: One of the oldest traditions is hiking or climbing mountains. It's believed that being high up wards off misfortune. 2) Chrysanthemum Appreciation: Chrysanthemums, which bloom in autumn, are central to the festival. People drink chrysanthemum wine and admire the flowers, which are seen as symbols of longevity. 3) Wearing Cornelian: Some people wear a plant known as zhuyu (Cornelian cherry) or chrysanthemum flowers to ward off evil spirits. 4) Kite Flying: In some regions, flying kites is also a popular activity, as it's thought to drive away bad luck. #traditionalfestival #DoubleNinthFestival #traditionalcustom #Chinesetradition #lunarcalendar #cultural

Dragon Boat Festival On the fifth day of the fifth lunar month every year, we Chinese celebrate an ancient and culturally rich festival - the Dragon Boat Festival. This festival is full of stories, history and traditions. Today, let's take a closer look at the rich culture and traditions of the Dragon Boat Festival. The Dragon Boat Festival, also known as the Loong Boat Festival, is a traditional Chinese festival that is celebrated on the fifth day of the fifth lunar month every year. There are multiple versions of the origin of the Dragon Boat Festival, the most well-known of which is to commemorate the ancient Chu poet Qu Yuan. Qu Yuan is an important cultural figure of our Chinese people, and his noble character, honesty and patriotism are deeply admired by us Chinese. His poem "Li Sao" is still a treasure of Chinese literature. Traditional activities to celebrate the Dragon Boat Festival include dragon boat racing and making and eating rice dumplings. The dragon boat race symbolizes the legend of people racing to save Qu Yuan, and it embodies teamwork and determination to overcome difficulties. The rice dumplings, on the other hand, symbolize the story of people throwing themselves into the water to stop fish and shrimp from biting Qu Yuan's body, and it shows people's loyalty and love. If you have any interest in Chinese ancient holidays, just come to me. I would like to share the story with you. lity@lyzhili.com
