With the Paris Summer Olympics just round the corner, team Spoogle dived deep into its databases and came out with some interesting insights. Being held since 1896, the summer Olympics are one of the oldest multi-sport events in the world apart from being the most prestigious. Thousands of medals have been won by nations across numerous sports and events over the years and we decided to create an all-time list of the most successful countries at the summer Olympics. Points have been awarded for each medal won, 𝟱 for a gold medal, 𝟯 for a silver and 𝟮 for a bronze medal. The 𝗧𝗼𝗽 𝟭𝟬 most successful nations of all time across all event stagings have been laid down based on medal points earned. Some of the insights that surfaced include: - The United States easily leads the pack by a huge margin as being the most successful nation at the summer Olympics of all time with 𝟮𝟲𝟯𝟲 total medals won. - The United States have an almost absolute edge when it comes to the sports of athletics and aquatics. - The Soviet Union have done the best in Gymnastics and Combat sports More details in the attached document. Olympics are for me one of the most remarkable events where, despite represent a flag, athletes show a special bright in eyes for -I guess- transcending borders: physical, metal, politics, races. We are one and only one. Let's brake limits out! Another remarkable point for me here is that does not matter the language, we can watch such videos and to feel the purity of such feelings that sport competitions rise up https://lnkd.in/eBQS6qH9

Athletics at the Winter Olympic Games? Well, actually, it's cross-country, which falls under World Athletics. I like the potential for non-traditional Winter Games nations to participate in the Winter Olympics, and the Summer Games schedule is maxed out, so there is little room for adding more disciplines. This doesn’t mean the cross-country will be run in snow. The last four Winter Games, Beijing 2022, PyeongChang 2018, Sochi 2014, and Vancouver 2010, all had a mountain and urban cluster. There is rarely snow in the urban cluster as they have all been on a coast, other than Beijing. The cross-country could work in a large urban park. What do you think? Are there any other sports that could be added to the Winter Games programme? https://lnkd.in/eRz7xPuq

European Masters Indoor Championships. - Toruń, Poland 🇵🇱 3 races in one week with 3 huge PBs 3000m Final- 5th with a 12” PB (10:44) 1500m Final - 4th with a 7” PB (5:06) 800m Final - 7th with a 7” PB (2:31) The most amazing experience for my first ever Indoor European championships. The atmosphere in the stadium was unreal, the facilities were world class and to come away with three PBs was pretty epic. Every race had such a different story. I had to front run the 3000m for 11 laps in order to hit my PB and to make the race honest. The 800m was inbetween the 3000m and 1500m which my coach wanted me to do to get some speed in the legs for the 1500m - 800m is not my normal distance so it was hard and the lactic was so intense in the final 200m. No idea how I raced the 1500m after only 1 day of rest but just gave it my all, left absolutely nothing out there and ran to my maximum. I didn’t expect to finish that high up the field as the quality of athletes is fantastic, it really was great to be around such talent. These performances put me top of the UK AG rankings for 1500m and 2nd for 3000m and 800m 🇬🇧 What a way to close the indoor season. As always, powered by plants 🌱 #athletics #veganbusiness

I’m sure like myself, many of you were glued to the ❤️ Olympics 💙 the past few weeks also. It was incredible to see the talent, dedication and perseverance throughout the different events. I feel like the athletes legit pushed the boundaries of what humans are capable of and they absolutely showed what it means to strive for being the best! (I mean let’s look at Quincy Hall’s "electric" comeback to win the GOLD medal as a prime example! 👏 👏 👏 #kansascityproud ) So while I know this is going to sound cheesy or even a bit cliché, but what if, as professionals, we applied that same amount of commitment, effort and enthusiasm we just witnessed to our daily responsibilities? I get that it’s unrealistic to expect everyone to give in 120% 120% of the time…but if you think about it, can’t we all learn a lesson or two about resilience, teamwork and even the pursuit of greatness from what we just witnessed the past few weeks?! 💥 Maybe I just already miss the Olympics a little too much and this is my pity party (of one 😂 ) post, but as a challenge to myself (you know, when you say something out loud, then you have accountability), I’m going to TRY to let the spirit of the games drive me to push the limits in my professional success 🎖 #usa #olympicgames #olympics2024 #goals #accountability #goldmedal #kcproud #kansascity #teamwork https://lnkd.in/eEnfu29K
